While I know this is true, I'm curious what's going on in this book to make you say that.

He voices his opinion often. Lots of talk about the jab and masks, someone cried when Biden was sworn in, January 6,
BLM, police shootings. A ton of liberal talking points. There's no doubt of his political leanings and he's not afraid to shove them down your throat. I've read all of his works and this time it's so in your face that it's offputting.

It's a shame how blatantly and aggressively political entertainers have become. William Gibson is the same way. He used to touch on his views with an abstract elegance, now he just bitches through his books like a Portland commie.

Well thanks for the heads up. Removed it from my hold list.
Not a protest. Just don’t care about reading that crap.

I had to stop reading "Gwendy's Button Box" after only a few chapters, for this very reason.
I have read all of his work up to that.
It was so prevalent that it completely interrupted any flow to the story.
It is a sad thing, to me.

They are lauded and rewarded for toeing the party line.
It is enticing for the artist, because they can be lazy and spout these tropes with little effort.
It is like watching a woke "comic", they say shite for applause, not laughs.
It dilutes all entertainment, which is the the point.
Eat bugs, live in a habitrail, and listen only to the approved content.

i bailed on new Stephen King material during the GWB era for this reason, and it sounds like he has just gotten worse. I re-read a lot of his old stuff and listen to them on Audible because I still love those old books. he was always a lefty and he worked his politics in here and there, but the last 15-20 years he has gone completely off the rails. his career has followed the same trajectory of Howard Stern - he is now just a grotesque and demented parody of himself.

i had to unfollow the Stephen King reddit page too because it's basically just a toxic echo chamber of hate against anyone who isnt to the left of Stalin.

Mr. Mercedes sucked. I think Stephen King is done. Reading his drivel and political opinions to only end up w/ one of his inevitably bad endings is just not worth. Too many good books out there (ironically some written by King) for this crap.

Spot on. I haven't read any of his newer stuff, but I've been seeing people bitch about how he's gone off the rails a good bit in his books. Was Wind Through the Keyhole his last good novel?

Damn it I was hoping he wouldn't inject it into this one since Hodges was devoid of it. Gonna give it a go soon and see how insufferable it is.

Possibly. Depends on how you view the ending of The Outsider (which I didn't mind but a lot of people hated) and the meandering story and terrible ending of Under the Dome.

His son has been getting co-author credits & it would be no shock for a rich kid to further take his dad's writings further to the left. All the kid has known is an excessive wealthy lifestyle. After the 3rd chapter returned it to the library.

I was always a big SK fan, great writer despite his politics. This was his first book that I couldn’t finish, stopped halfway through - the TDS made me sick and was a huge distraction from a mediocre story to begin with.
