I’ve heard the audio book is great/better than the read I’ve never been an audiobook person though. Need the words there or lose focus etc. Might try to listen for reread.

I thought the same thing. That was the single scene that sums up the absurdity and genius of this series. ??
I decided to check out the audio books (read the series already) and they really are great.

I was the same way. Just started audio books last year. This series completely spoils you to that format.

I have been having trouble finding a book that I can stick with the past two years. Finally started the first book of this series. Wow. I read the first 100 pages in one sitting. I can't remember the last time I did that. Pretty funny and easy to read. Helps I'm a gamer but have never played D&D or any other board games in that genre.

Are you all reading just the regular audio book or the audio immersion tunnel? Someone let me listen to book 1 of their audio immersion tunnel version and it was fantastic. Unfortunately, the rest isn't out yet in this format. Would I be disappointed in listening to the regular audio book after the audio immersion tunnel?

I'd do the regular audiobook first and then the immersion tunnel on a re-read.

Anyone disappointed they don't play the music of the carts they send off on the subway level?

I started the series 3 weeks ago and just finished book 7. I just want to say Mongo was robbed at the talent show! He fricking moonwalked!

I got to meet Matt and Jeff last night at Eagle Eye Books in Atlanta. They are fricking awesome. Matt signed my first 3 old Amazon paperbacks and my battle rattle jacket.
Jeff said he couldn't sign anything because it was a paid event for Matt, but did a short reading of book 8 for us. Gonna try and meet up with Jeff to get some things signed at Dragon Con.
Want to get the rest of my Amazon books signed by Matt at Dragon Con too.
Matt says he doesn't plan much out besides the destination he has to get the crawlers to in the book. The plot is mostly written as he goes to make them get to that destination and if something he writes doesn't help to achieve that goal, he scraps it.
He says he thinks of it like a song too, Jeff is the lead singer in his mind and so everything he writes is meant to play right into Jeff's incredible talent. So the books are very much written with the audiobooks in mind.

The iron tangle was overcomplicated. But loved it anyway. It is the hardest one to grasp though. I'm finding a second crawl through them all and I enjoyed it more the second time than the first. There's just so much going on in that book that you have to visualize.

Matt says he has a map, but will never show fans. He also said that was his favorite book to write so far.

Matt announced on Reddit that the next book, A Parade of Horribles, releases on May 12, 2026 in all formats.

Wow, I honestly didn’t realize he was doing all the voices. It’s so good, I thought they had multiple people working the voices. I can’t imagine how hard it is to keep the voices all straight across multiple books.

Not reading the thread to avoid spoilers because I'm still super early on. I think I read chapter 20 of book one last night.
Had my first true LOL moment last chapter. Carl and Donut got some tattoo achievement. Donut being the show cat that she is was pretty displeased. She started screaming "This is a disqualifying mark! This is a disqualifying mark!"
So funny.
Carl finding out about two guys coming over to their apartment while he was gone was pretty great too.
Hopefully these achievements/rewards/level up bonus' type stuff isn't stuff you need to remember. My brain has a retention skill rating of 2.

Does the thread have spoilers past book one? Didn't want to start reading the thread if it was spoiling things past DCC.

There are a lot of out of context spoilers and quotes. Best to avoid reading through it.
