Lena, Kit, Peter, Nikolaj, & Emilia get MAJOR raises
Also the actors have signed on for S7. The 5 actors I mentioned in the link title are getting huge pay raises. Sophie, Maisie, & Natalie are getting bumps in pay as well but not as big as those 5 actors.

They deserve it, the show is a juggernaut. I really do like the show as it's what got me reading. Watched episode 1 and then read Game of Thrones cover to cover the next day. Finished through Feast by episode 5-6. The general outline is my major issue. Let's just say Jon ends the series on the Iron Throne w/ Arya as LC of the Kingsguard, Dany dead, Tyrion HotK, etc. I don't want to know that even if the middle parts are all mixed up with what happens in the book. I guess I can watch the show and avoid the last season only. I'm talking a big game, but when the show rolls around I will probably give in

I know what you mean though. I feel like I would rather have it in book form first.

I don't get the shitty reviews on TWOIAF. The writing is exactly as it is as it supposed to be, informative. Great 30 dollar buy.

I don't either. It's beautifully illustrated and told from a Maester POV. It's exactly what it says it is, a history of Westeros.
Of course it's probably people who wanted more pictures or something.

What I read on amazon was a bunch of people bitching about Elio and Linda essentially being fanfic writers, which is what Martin has campaigned against for a long time, even though they had his blessing or he helped them write or whatever.
You guys are right though, it is what it is, and anyone expecting it to be book 6 is an idiot.
I've changed my mind due to this thread and what a co-worker who got it has said, but I'll still probably wait for a price drop or let someone get it for me for Christmas.

Yeah it's definitely not fanfic. They said in an interview that they took a lot of info from the Wikis, little tidbits that have been dropped in the books (as well as all of the accompanying material, unreleased Dunk and Egg's included), and filled in the blanks. Then GRRM either gave a nod to the fill-ins or added/subtracted himself.
It's a real steal at $30 given the quality of the print and illustrations.

Wait... people are getting upset that a coffee table book is glorified fanfiction?
I swear some ASoIaF fans make Updyke look like a saint.
I bought it today but haven't read through too much of it. What I have seen just flipping through it seems to spark a lot of interest. Not something I will still down and just read, because again, it's a coffee table book, but will pick up from time to time and read like an anthology.

There is some opposing website that hates GRRM and asoiaf that already had negative reviews written out before the book was released. If you paid attn they posted those reviews almost immediately as the book was released. No way they had time to read the book. Not sure what website these people are from. At least that's what Ran told me on Westeros.com. Of course he will defend the bad reviews because it's his book however. But I 100% beleive him.
