You know you're a nerd when you play through the entirety of skyrim with a character named victarion....... And you ONLY pay the iron price.

I feel kind of dirty over my zeal when I do Dark Brotherhood tasks.

Skyrim + Victarion => you did not sow!
I downloaded a mod for Civ V that converted all the civilizations to Westeros kingdoms.
Targs conquered all.

I saw way earlier in the thread that someone used asofai website while they were rereading the books. I am currently rereading a storm of swords and would like to do this as well, but cannot find exactly what you were doing. There is a lot of stuff on that website and i cant seem to navigate.
Any suggestions or links? TIA

You want the wiki of ice and fire. Everytime you run across a term, person or place you're not familiar with look it up and read about it. It will open your eyes to a lot of connections made throughout the book that is otherwise transparent without MULTIPLE rereads. That's the sole reason I know shite like Jaime used to dream of slaying the smiling knight when he was a squire and that Arthur Dayne ended up killing him when they fought the king's wood brotherhood.

What about if you are reading something that you know is foreshadowing, but cant quite make the connection. I see, to really have trouble with this. What is your strategy for deciphering it and determining if it is something that has already been revealed in the later books?

A Wiki of Fire and Ice: Treat it just as you would the other Wiki where you can look up characters and such.
The Citadel: Is full of info involving the books including prophecies, speculation, and etc.
This link provides you with the list of chapters where you can read A Feast for Crows and a Dance with Dragons at the same time with the chapters in chronological order and not split up between two books.

Google it. Chances are you will end up with a link to the Westeros.org forums with someone who has fleshed it out for you already.
Or even better, post it here. I promise someone here will be able to help you out with it.

Oh and no question is a dumb question when it comes to foreshadowing/prophecies/etc. Most of us missed things on the first read and picked things up by throwing things around here or other places.
It's been a collaborative effort figuring out what things may or may not mean.
ETA: Also, I don't know how you're reading them Lion, but when I was on my Nook if I saw something I thought might tie into something later I highlighted it/marked it with a note. That helped keep track of those things further down the line in the book.

I can spend (or waste) a lot of time on this site.

Im thinking I may post questions in here and mark each post with a book and page and let this thread be my highlighter. I am reading out of an actual book.

I would enjoy that as it would allow me to easily refer back to the passage in question

You bringing the questions will help everyone here as well. There's always a theory that comes out of nowhere and makes me rethink every thing I thought to be true. Theres also things brought up that can connect multiple theories. This thread beyond delivers btw. It's like a constant fix that keeps the pain of waiting for Winds bearable.
