I'm with you. Actions have consequences in this series. Makes no sense to just have that for the hell of it.

At the trial for Tyrion, Pycelle goes into describing various poison effects... One of them, (forget the name) Pycelle describes as a poison that clogs up the intestines and makes you constipated until you die from the shite built up in your system. The Red Viper tells Tyrion "Tywin won't be living forever." Tyrion suspects Obyren then.
The poision described by Pycelle explains the unusually awful odor of Tywin at the time of his death and during the funeral.
My theory is the gods will not curse Tyrion for kinslaying because Tywin was already past the point of no return from the Red Viper's poison and already a dead man walking.

Don't think so, the smell when they found the body was unusually awful and Cersei gets pissed at Pycelle for not being able to supress the odor throughout the body being on display.

But if the decomposition was par for the course then why would Martin go into such detail describing how gross it was? It being the result of "normal" decomposition seems incongruent with Martin's writing style considering the prior context clues that he was poisoned. If those are all pointless red herrings, then why go into such detail about the stench and general grossness of the corpse?

There has been plenty of times throughout the series that he goes into great detail about rotting corpses. This one was sitting in a hot sept for seven days. I'd imagine the smell is pretty enclosed.

I'm with you. Unless I'm not remembering correctly, didn't Cersei's crazy arse insist on leaving Tywin out on display well past his body's shelf life? A body in a suit of armor laying out for over a week with no A/C...gotta think that would get ripe without any help from poisons, but I could be wrong.

Stannis getting crushed on The Blackwater is supposed to be a result of his kinslaying. The Targs who historically killed each other all were met with disastrous ends. I can't really think of too many examples due to the fact that kin-slaying was so taboo.

I know the wiki lists Theon, but he didn't actually kill Bran and Rickon and he's worse off now than anybody like Tyrion or Stannis.
This is now making me think that it's more how the people in the realm view kinslayers that make them so accursed. Theon was viewed as killing Rickon and Bran, so Ramsay messed with his head good. If Tyrion had stayed in Westeros, he very likely would have ended up much worse than how he is now.
