Watching the replay. I have to admit, I'm a little pissed that Barristan didn't do more when they took Ned captive.

And frick that little bastard Littlefinger.

Ned didn't tell Barristan about Joffrey's illegitimacy. I don't understand why Ned didn't take him much closer into his counsel when he was Hand. He was typically on the same page as him, and even if Ned knew what he would say, he knew that Barristan would have his back. It was stupid for Ned to trust in Littlefinger and not in Barristan.

It shouldn't have been too hard to figure out honestly.

That said, I'll also take great joy in Lysa getting shoved out the moon door.

Yeah, same here. Jon may not know it at the start, but someone will. I think Connington will figure it out and be killed by Varys for it. He'll die thinking he helped the wrong boy and think that Rhaegar named his child after him. I don't see any other reason why GRRM would have given Connington that first name if this weren't going to happen.

I 100% picture GRRM letting Varys killed JonCon once he's served his purpose, and that Varys will have a confessional monologue with him like he did with Kevan Lannister, saying something like "You raised Aegon, who will be a capable leader...but Jon Snow is the true heir." Although I don't think the Spider knows anything about Jon Snow's true parentage, so something would have to happen between now and whenever Varys decides to dispose of him. I could see JonCon thinking that he was named after him, and it'll be too little, too late for him to go help out Jon up North.

Or, GRRM could just make JonCon die of greyscale. My personal Crackpot theory is that JonCon and Shireen are going to cause a big Greyscale plague to happen in Westeros. And it would be hilarious if Dany actually has the Pale Mare rather than her period and brings it over to Westeros. So dragons burning everyone, Pale Mare spreading, and Greyscale plague, on top of starvation and White Walkers. Sounds like no one will survive to the end then .

Also, I hope Barristan or Victarion smash in Daario's brains. I hate that douchenozzle so much...But then wouldn't Dany whine for 10+ chapters about how her true love Daario is now dead?

But Ned was also fricking HORRIBLE at dealing with Southron politics and court. He should've never left the North, and should have hauled arse back home once Robert and Cersei decided to kill Lady.

Littlefinger is such a fricking sleezeball in both the show and books. I knew he was a creepy fricker back when I was a Hodor watching S1. But reading ASoS and AFFC really sealed my opinion of him. Especially AFFC and how he keeps on forcing his daughter to 'kiss' him, although that very last chapter made it seem like he forced her into a makeout session .

Jon Stark was a King of Winter before the Conquest. So it could be a Stark family name given by Lyanna.

I tend to think that Lyanna and Rhaegar had a more Targ sounding name for Jon. I imagine that Ned picked Jon in memory of Jon Arryn; also, Jon seems like a fairly commonly used Westerosi name, so it's no surprise that there were Jon Starks in the not too distant past.

Also, it's Sunday!!!!

TRAILER WILL BE OUT IN 21 HOURS.

Yeah, he is. I love that gif though .

Another great thread that I found (I think we've discussed how Sapphires=Secrets on here before, and now I found a thread about the meaning of Emeralds in ASOIAF):

Emeralds=Usurpers

The link also talks about the Red, Green, and Blue Forks of the Trident and the symbolism with those colors. This really stands out to me:

quote:

With the above in mind, we have enough information to make a prediction: I believe there is a good chance we will see a new dynasty emerge on the Blue Fork of the Trident. Perhaps after a great battle, maybe like the one in Dany's dream from ASoS. Further, I believe that all signs point to this new dynasty being House Stark, led by Jon Snow. If it is indeed a Stark dynasty that is represented by blue, the historical cycle will almost look like a three-headed ouroboros. Blue -> Red -> Green -> Blue.

The Blue Fork is largely unremarkable, with the exception of Oldstones. And it just so happens that Oldstones could be very significant as it pertains to R+L=J. At Oldstones is the sepulcher of Tristifer IV, the last Mudd King. This sepulcher turns out to be one big R+L=J metaphor. (Credit to FrozenFire3 and others. Link - It's very much worth a read if you're not familiar with it.) Not only that, but Tristifer's sepulcher is the spot where Robb told Catelyn that he was going to legitimize Jon as a Stark, and make him his heir.

The blue rose symbolism, specifically the stuff tied to Jon, is certainly worth mentioning here. As well as the sapphire symbolism, which deals with lies and secrets with some possible ties to identity. All things that fit perfectly with R+L=J. When combined with the analysis of Tristifer's sepulcher – and all of them do seem to meet here, at the Blue Fork – it's pretty exciting.

Ned history with the King's Guard, might have factored into it.

Well it's entirely possible. Although I don't see it as a necessary plot device. It would be hilarious though.

Unless there is some grand plan for Penny that we don't know about, I doubt she makes the show at all.

This might have been discussed but im not reading this thread, will they do the midget jousting in the wedding I'd love to see it and it does come into play later on.

Highly doubt it. I'm thinking its likely that Joffrey will go behind Tywin's back and serve Sansa Robb's head at the feast.

That could come into play as well.

I'm also curious as to what is going to happen in Episode 1 to set up for Episode 2/the Purple Wedding episode. Will there be another scene of Joffrey being a douche, telling Sansa that he's to have her in his bed once he weds and beds Margaery? We know for a fact that Oberyn is going to show up in Episode 1, probably as the opening scene in fact. I would imagine that Tywin will say something snarky about Oberyn/the Dornish and Cersei will probably refer to Ellaria as a Dornish whore.

Also, will Episode 1 have Sansa sneaking out to meet Dontos in the Godswood? I'm trying to figure out if they're going to maybe have her meet him even just once before the wedding. And how are they going to incorporate the hairnet into the show?

And will Episode 2 end with Sansa and Littlefinger on the ship, or will they end the episode will Joffrey choking on pigeon pie and then show the remaining wedding chaos from all of that at the beginning of Episode 3?

Perhaps. But, I see it the other way around, Oberyn and Turion are kindred spirits in that regard.
