I hope we get to see that sword and others. I am certain that we will see Lightbringer at some point. But I'd really like to see Dawn make an appearance (and the Sword in the Morning).

Somewhere in this thread, I have a list of the legendary swords and there last known locations.

ETA: I also believe that Lightbringer and Dawn may be the same sword.

I tend to agree, but Ned probably felt that he couldn't trust Cat. Hell, I wouldn't trust her . Playing devil's advocate here, but couldn't she start to resent Ned and Jon now because it could mean high treason for her and her children (rather than hating Jon for being a bastard) ? I'm not saying Cat is like Cersei, but I think if it meant protecting her kids over Jon, the true Targ heir, she may have sold him out if Ned died earlier.

And he would have told her at a time when he didn't really know her. They were married and he immediately went to war.

Now, he could lied to her and then revealed the truth to her a few years later but by that time he was so invested in the cover up and he and Cat had such a strong relationship that he may have felt it not worth possibly losing her if he revealed the truth.

I really hope we get to see some of these ancestral swords brought back, i.e. Brightroar. I'm convinced that Tyrion will bring Brightroar back with him to Westeros.

Also, this is great:

I disagree. One is fire, one is pale as milk.

True, very true. But what could be a better "lightbringer" than the "dawn".

Dawn is pale as milkglass in the hands of the Sword in the Morning. But what if it where to glow bright red when handled by the lord-of-light's Azor Ahai?

I think it is possible that the Sword in the Morning is a custodian of Dawn until Azor Ahai claims it as Lightbringer.

I think the swords are going to play a big role in the coming fight. I think that Blackfrye and Dark Sister are going to appear at some point very soon. Either through the Gold Company or through TEC. I have to think that Darkstar is going to get a hold of Dawn and wreck shite. Of course there will be a thing with Widow's Wail and Oathkeeper, probably in the Stark storylines. But the dark horse in all of this is Brightroar.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Blackfyre pop up with the Aegon storyline.

I'd also like to see Dawn appear. As said, you can't help but feel with the emphasis on the swords that they'll come into play.

Yep.

With Balon Swann and Obara Sand hunting Darkstar in Dorne, it seems like an awfully good time for Dawn to make an appearance.

In fact, a bunch of story arcs appear to be headed for places where these legendary swords might be found.

Hell, maybe the grave digger will find one.

Oh, Dawn is definitely making a comeback. If the whole Septa Lemore/Ashara Dayne theory is true, she knows exactly where Dawn is located.

Legendary swords and their locations.

Ice: the great sword of House Stark. Split in two, currently remaining as Oathkeeper and Widow's Wail, belonging to the Lady Brienne of Tarth and the Bastard born false son of the Usurper King Tommen.

Brightroar: the ancestral great sword of House Lannister of Castlery Rock. Was last in the possession of Gerion Lannister who embarked on a voyage to Old Valeryia.

Heartsbane: the ancestral great sword of House Tarly of Hornhill. Currently in possession of Randyll Tarly.

Longclaw: the ancestral Bastard sword of House Mormont of Bear Island. Last known to belong to Jon Snow before being assassinated by his brothers of the Night's Watch.

Nightfall: the ancestral long sword of House Harlaw. Currently in possession of Harras Harlaw, recently named lord of Greyshield by Euron Greyjoy.

Lady Forlorn: the ancestral sword of House Corbray, it is currently in the possession of Ser Lyn Corbray, a pedophile who needs to meet Qyburn.

Red Rain: the sword of House Drumm stolen in a raid. Given the name and coloring, possibly the ancestral sword of House Reyne.

Oathkeeper: One of two Valyrian blades reforged by Tobho Mott from Ice. The blade was made for Ser Jaime Lannister, but he has given it to Brienne of Tarth for use in her quest to locate Sansa Stark. The blade was given its name, Oathkeeper, at that time.

Widow's Wail: One of two Valyrian blades reforged by Tobho Mott from Ice. The blade was made for King Joffrey Baratheon as a wedding gift by his grandfather, Lord Tywin. Where it was given its name from the shouted suggestion of an unnamed guest. Following Joffrey's death, ownership of Widow's Wail has presumably passed to his younger brother, King Tommen.

Vigilance: ancestral sword of House Hightower. Whereabouts unknown.

Orphan-Maker: ancestral sword of House Roxton. Whereabouts unknown.

Blackfyre: the sword of Aegon I Targaryen. Carried by all Targaryen kings till Aegon IV who gave it to his bastard Daemon Blackfyre who rose in rebellion against the Targaryens, taking the sword's name for his house. Its whereabouts are currently unknown.

Dark Sister: the sword wielded by Visenya Targaryen. Later owned by Aemon Targaryen, the Dragon Knight, Lord Commander of the Kingsgaurd. The last known owner was Bloodraven.

Lollys' situation was different from Cersei and Gatehouse Ami; Lancel was such a fricking idiot for not doing his husband duties in that marriage.
