My only issue with that is who would be going after Aemon and why?
Varys and Illyrio would be the obvious answers however why? Hes old as sin and not a threat to Aegon or Dany's claim to the throne.
Aemon isn't going for the throne but he could be used as a figurehead to rally support for Aegon or Dany. I think Varys (who I think is a Blackfyre) and Illyrio got a Faceless Man to kill Aemon in order to support Aegon.

A theory I have that no one else really believes, hell I'm not sure I believe it to be honest, is that Bloodraven is evil and is actually the Great Other that Melisandre speaks of.
He is out for vengeance along with the children of the forest against the people of the seven kingdoms who drove them both from their homes. They have found a way to control the others or worked out a deal with them and are leading them on a campaign against the descendants of the Andals. However Bloodraven is dying, he needs an heir, someone as powerful as he is to carry out his work. Thats where Bran comes in.
I don't think this is all that far fetched. Bloodraven seems like it an evil frick to me.
And to whoever said Varys is a Blackfyre, I never thought of that. That could be very possible. Might be why he is bald.

I thought I read it had to be cause it was too small to be a giant's and too big to be anyone else's. Remind me, who's [Robert Strong] gonna fight in the trial?
In one of the last Cercei chapters, she asks if Margaery had a trial:
"Soon," said Septa Scolera, "but her brother-"
I think Martin plans on a Trial by Combat for Marg. And that opens sooooooo many possibilities.
I think we could see Loras or Garland fighting the Seven's Champion (Clegane?). Oh how the pig shite will fly should the Tyrell lose.

I think it already said that marg chose a traditional trial opposed to a trial by combat

I haven't read that about Marg's trial, but I still have one Cercei chapter to go in my re-read.
But that still makes the Septa's comment pretty interesting:
"Soon," said Septa Scolera, "but her brother-".
But her brother is what? Going to be the Seven's champion, mayhaps?
That could be interesting: Robert Strong vs The Knight of Flowers...

That's the report we know of. Could be true, or not. He may have recovered.
If not, Marg has another brother that may be even better with a sword than Loras. Ser Garlan may be the "brother" the septa mentioned.

WelL her brother is supposedly on his death bed. And that wouldn't be near as interesting as frankengregor vs Sandor
Posted on 8/20/12 at 10:49 am to CottonWasKing
Oh I completely agree, Cotton. FrankenMountain vs Sandor is going to be epic. And I think it will happen.
I meant that the fallout would be interesting if a Highgarden (i.e. Garland or Loras) was killed in Cercei's Trial by Combat.

I think the Tyrells are being very deceiving in both King's Landing and Dragonstone. I'm thinking the whole Loras is dying deal is a ruse and he is just fine.

I Agree.
The Queen of Thorns is already a major player in the Game.
I think she should be paying more attn to the Tyrell's own backyard than the Game, though. Tarly is out to pull a Roose Bolton on his Liege Lord, I suspect.

It did, and her accusers have pretty much all recanted their stories.

Isn't he a cripple? Also, the trial wouldn't be a Tyrell vs. Lannister would it? Wouldn't it be The Seven vs. Tyrell and The Seven vs. Lannister?

Willas is the crippled Tyrell, and heir to Highgarden.
In the spirit of Crackpot ASOIAF Theories, I noticed the comment made to Cercei regarding Marg's brother.
That little exchange makes me think that Marg's brother will not let her suffer the insult of a trial, and will champion her in trial by combat.
Alternatively, I could see Ser Loras (or Garlan) as champion of the Seven.

Had Margaery Tyrell somehow wriggled free of the accusations of fornication, adultery, and high treason? "Was there a trial?"

"Hush." Septa Unella turned to glare back...

The guy who told Cersei of Loras' injuries was Aurane Waters who took off with the Royal Fleet and may be working for the Tyrells or perhaps Stannis. He was with Stannis on the Blackwater.

It is very possible that Loras is capable of fighting, if needed.
Also, Loras mentioned in an earlier book that Garland was the truely talented swordsman of the two. Loras is certainly more skilled at the lance. I get the sense that both are pretty badass fighters.

Garlan is the one who dressed like Renly and fricked shite up on the Blackwater. I think Loras is perfectly fine, and somewhere in the Reach with his army. If Dragonstone had been taken why the hell didn't Stannis hear of it? Or Mel see it in the flames?

I would think that someone as famous as the Knight of Flowers would make is way back into the story.
Of course, this is a GRRM story. 90% of the Winds of Winter might be told from the POV of Garland's cupbearer.

But pretty much all of cerseis witnesses against Margery have withdrawn their accusations while under questioning. Why would either tyrell risk their life to stop a trial that Margery is almost sure to win? It doesn't make sense
I agree that Loras is more than likely just fine. Much like Davos was after cersei thought he was dead

We have not had a lot from the Tyrells yet, would love to have a POV from one of them. They would do better with a trial for Margery with most of the people accusing her recanting and her main opponent, Cersei, humiliated.

I don't think we'll see a Tyrell POV any time soon for the same reason there isn't a Littlefinger or Verys POV. It would expose too much.
