I would assume it'd be exclusive to the show though as GRRM has attempted to shoot down that he's still alive.

Would explain the question people always ask about why JH was in KL

Arya collapses and all you hear is "what do we say to the God of death?"

I'm kinda leaning towards they're just yanking our chain.

Can't wait to find out though.

I find it hard to believe that Syrio will come back. It's hard to see him surviving that fight, and very hard to see both him and Meryn Trant surviving.

Well if he did get away it's not like Trant would admit it. It's just very skeptical that we don't see him die on camera.

He didn't actually manage to kill all those other soldiers, right? I thought he just incapacitated them. I have to think someone would have talked. In any case, we last saw him with a broken, wooden sword fighting against someone in full armor who we know survived the encounter. I have to think (and hope) that Syrio is dead.

This was my thought as well. However, he could have "yielded" during his fight with Trant and they threw him in the KL dungeons, where he then changed into JH.

Definitely a crackpot theory, but who knows.

I dont have an answer for that. I really dont know. One thing I've thought of but I don't know if even I buy it is:

Cold hands is undead, so he may have lost half his face over thousands of years. We don't know what's under there, but he might realize that no one would trust him if he showed his face regardless of his ancestry.

No one would talk and admit a guy with a wooden sword incapacitated like 5 members of the kings guard.

Fair enough. And I kind of like the dungeon/JH theory someone just mentioned. That said, I still don't believe it's Syrio.

The First Sword to the Sealord of Braavos does not yield!.. Ned chose him to guide and protect Arya. Its been seen that when one person dies it can bring another back. Either Ned's life brought Syrio back, or he and Jaqen are Faceless Men and basically the same person. They both guided Arya through life after Ned.

I get that in most cases he would never yield; however, if it meant staying alive to possibly have the chance to protect Arya...

And that's also assuming a POS like Trant would even honor someone yielding in a fight.

I think the other dudes were Lannister soldiers...well, in the show at least.

Stands to reason, though- you know a twat like Trant threatened them all if they told the truth when everyone woke up...I don't his threats being real effective against other KG.

But yeah, I agree Syrio cleaned Trant's clock with a broken wooden sword and booked.

Why are people bringing up syrio?

Eta: NVM I seen it. Would like to point out that I called syrio saving arya in the episode 7 thread. It's happening.

There is literally no way that Trant or the rest of them would have let him yield. They would have just killed him and be done with it.
