Isn't there a theory that Varys is a merman?

Yeah. Mermen should definitely be Manderlys. Starfish is more problematical. Some think it refers to the Bolton flayed man sigil which kinda looks like a starfish. I guess it could be a reference to Karstarks who I think have a starburst sigil and Patchface just put the fish part because he's always about under the sea. Neither is a perfect answer though.

And The only house I know with a crab sigil is Celtigar. But they are Baratheon banner men. They are rumored to have a Valyrian steel axe though so that would be pretty useful and maybe they bring them in earlier for whatever this prophecy is talking about and then that Axe comes into play. Every bit of Valyrian steel they can get their hands on is gonna be helpful

One of the things I've always found fascinating about Patchface is that Melisandre is actually scared of him.

I'm not going to try to interpret his visions, as I think they're much too cryptic to do so. I am, however, quite curious about what happened in that storm at sea to make him this way. I like to think the ship was attacked by a kraken, and that this kraken is actually the "Drowned God."

His ramblings have been pretty spot on though.

One thing I find interesting is that several of the religions have had accurate prophecies since the re-birth of magic into the world:

Patchface (Drowned God religion?)- Red Wedding and probably others I'm forgetting.

Ghost of High Heart (Old Gods religion?) - Shadow demon killing Renly, purple wedding, Balon's death, Lady Stoneheart, Sansa and the snow castle/giant. Interestingly, Arya freaked her the frick out - said she smelled of death and was cruel to come there.

Melisandre (Lord of Light religion) - Seeing "Snow" when asking to see Azor Ahai, seeing Jon battling at Winterfell (very likely to come true IMO), seeing herself on the battlements of Winterfell (also likely to come true IMO). And not exactly prophecies but the leaches seem to have been magic at work and the shadow baby definitely was.

House of the Undying (??? religion): Lots of stuff with Dany and with Rhaegar, etc. which I'm too lazy to look up now but will edit to include.

Maggie the Frog (??? religion). This one is intereresting because I'm not sure it wasn't pre-comet and was definitely pre dragons being hatched. But she nailed the Cersi/Robert and Cersi's kids stuff.

The only one that I can't think of much for is the religion of the 7. Their trials by battle have a pretty poor record that we've seen: Tyrion's first one at the Eyrie was accurate (he was innocent and Bronn won for him). But his second was not (he was innocent of Joffrey's death unless they throw a really big curve down the line and yet his champion lost. On a technicality perhaps but still lost. And the Hound won his with Dondarion even though I;m pretty sure he was guilty of what Arya accused him. So really, they are like 1 for 3.

Random question, but did the show ever introduce Euron in the earlier seasons, or are the hodors wondering who the frick he is? I havent rewatched any of the earlier seasons and I can't remember?

They haven't included him until now and Hodors are most definitely bugging out over his scene. They have no idea who he is and it bothers them, but that's why they SHOULD READ THE BOOKS DAMMIT.

Hmm. This does make some sense. It is at least unusual because the Borrells overlords are the Sunderlands and not the Manderlys. The fact that they sent Davos to Manderly says something.

Was thinking that as well as far as the serving men and the mermen. Still not sure about the starfish soup.

I'm not. I think Septa Mordane is a possibility...even though I don't know what purpose that reveal would serve.

I'm not convinced it was Ned that "disgraced" her. If she was knocked up by a Stark @ Harrenhal, it was Brandon. Lady Dustin confessed falling prey to his Cocksmanship...and I took it as a nod at tKotLT.

Ned probably had that unrequited love thing w/her.

Like I said in the reader's thread, it's not like the Umbers can just find a black/dark colored direwolf whenever they want. There hadn't been a direwolf sighting in 200 years before the Starks found theirs. So good luck in finding one unless you accidentally stumble on one.

And it looks like the Meera is Jon's sister was debunked on the show by the 3 eyed raven.
