Just finished reading my first CJ Box book, Three Inch Teeth, after a recommendation from a friend. What is the board's favorite CJ Box book so I can get my next read.

I thought Three Inch Teeth was one of his worst books. Go back and start at the beginning with "Open Season".

I read most of the Joe Pickett series till it got too predictable and too ridiculous with long range hand guns

I've read all the Joe Picket series, and I would say the first fifteen were his best. Entertaining reads, but nothing earthshattering.

Why start reading a series with the 24th book?

Well I’m not the biggest reader and this was just suggested to me and I loved it. I’ve never heard of this guy before this book.

Another series I would recommend is Craig Johnson's Longmire series. Also set in Wyoming, but he's a sheriff..

If you've seen the Yellowstone TV series, that was based on another CJ Box series.

If you find that you like the game warden genre, Paul Doiron writes a series set in Maine featuring game warden Mitch Bowditch. I like it slightly better than the Pickett series.

I’ve read (listened to) several CJ Box books but not the Joe Pickett ones. They were very good.

Ive read all of his stuff. He is entertaining but you have to check reality at the door. That much stuff just doesn't happen to a game warden in rural Wyoming. That said, he is an easy, enjoyable read and as other posters have said, just start at the beginning of the series and you will appreciate the character arcs more.
