Is Quinn a good coach?

Serious question.
My perception is that the Falcons are consistently much worse in the second half.
Is this true or just my misplaced perception.
If true, is it Quinn, and does that make him a poor coach?

I don't think he's very good. He has helped to put together a very strong roster though, so I still like him a lot. he often looks very confused on the sideline during big moments.

I think he is very good at player/roster development.
In game management? I think he is awful. He seriously needs to hire one of those gurus that you put on the sideline to tell you what to do.

All this. Got an eye for talent, but he's borderline retarded on gamedays.

It's funny how he always has this look of relief when his players bail him out in big situations. He doesn't a look of confidence but a look of "phew, thank God for Matt"

Sark is having that 2nd year renaissance that Shanahan had. While I don't think he is near as creative as Shanny was, it might be a result of him and Ryan being on the same page and able to communicate better.

I think Quinn is alright except for that fricking prevent defense he uses every time he has a late lead. Without fail, the other team drives downfield for the winning/tying score.

if we are up two scores, I don't mind the prevent so much. in fact, if Alford hadn't been playing tight on his receiver during the final NYG drive, then they wouldn't have hit on that big play and the clock probably runs out before they score a TD. but yeah, if we are only up one score than prevent is asinine.

The inability to step on their throat and rip a teams jugular, has and will continue to frick us anally until we quit with this bend dont break mentality. Cause guess what, we break like the levees every time. We also get way too conservative on offense. These frickers are gonna make me get back on my blood pressure meds.

The only times I've ever seen a Quinn team just take someone's manhood and stomp on their necks were the playoff games against Seattle and Green Bay

More fantastic and detailed analysis from this guy.

Before the season, I said he was Mike Smith with a better eye for talent and got downvoted to hell.

Wish we would go after Harbaugh if he gets fired from the Ravens but Quinn will get at least another two seasons probably.

He has probably earned the right to at least one more season but I do think it is painfully obvious he has serious coaching deficiencies. Mike Smith was very similar, he had success but it was also clear he was awful.

I don't think that he is

I don't know. It's hard to win on any level with a statue at QB unless he has the absolute best talent around him. Matt isn't Peyton Manning in that he can pretty much direct an offense by himself. He needs a lot of help around him (offensively and defensively), and when that's lacking it's not going to be good.
Drew Brees isn't the most athletic, but he's hard to stop week in and week out because of the way he directs his offense.
