Can anyone tell me how old this logo is and when it was used?

I think I have seen it related to games from like the 50's and 60's?

Maybe?

It wasn't an official logo.

I also don't think it's more than 25~30 years old. At least I don't remember ever seeing it when I was young. 70's, etc.

Seem like it was more recent.

The logo from the 50s and 60s was more cartoonish. I’ve got a banner at home with all the official logos over the years.

I want to say it came off one of those old school "SEC Family Portraits"? Like pre-92 when we were still at 10 teams? Could be wrong though.........

My parents attended the Capstone in the late 50's and early 60's and I used to have a collection of old Bama pennants, Golden Flake cans, Coke bottles, programs, commenatarive balls, posters.....just all kinds of original old school shite. You name it I collected it. After I left home, my parents had a garage sale and sold all my shite....along with my comic book collection, baseball card collection, GI Joe collection.....all the stuff little kids collected. I am still pissed about it to this day.

I saw it on T-shirts when I was at Bama 1975-79.

My grandad attended in 1946 on the GI bill. My dad started in 1979. I came along in 2001.

I can't find anything for it officially. I saw the book store is selling hats with the logo and it caught my eye. Always thought it was cool but could never pin down around when it started making the rounds. RTR

It was certainly around in the mid-Eighties. I can remember seeing this sort of logo (standing, angry face, holding the ball) for several different schools during that time.

Nice to know selling all my childhood collectables for party money wasn't the worst possible thing to do with them.

That sounds about right. I’d put in the late 70’s, early 80’s period when it first appeared. That’s an educated guess but I remember seeing it around that time. It was a secondary logo and wasn’t used all the time. It’s not bad but my favorite is still the old school block A with the elephant stepping through it.

I’ve only ever seen it on bootleg stuff at flea markets.

I liked the one with the lady surrounded by a garland and University of Alabama circled around her. You still can find the image at what I think is the Medical college building? Super classy.

As a kid, I had a sweatshirt with that logo around 1989.

Truth be told, I'd rather Big Al look like that instead of his current look. At least that elephant has tusks

That's the official seal of the university. Think of it as representing the academic mission of Alabama.
