“There’s other guys that are still developing, and they need to prove it before, in my mind, I can say, ‘Oh yeah, he’s done it.’ Well, obviously, he hasn’t done it yet,” Brady said. “They’ve all shown flashes of amazing things. They’re all great players. All of them can make tremendous plays. At some point, they need to take the next step and take, in my mind, more ownership of what they’re doing, in terms of the organizational level, to do more things to empower more people, to get more people on that train or that bus with you to head in the direction you want to go.”

Mahomes walked into an 11-5 franchise w Andy Reid and a dozen all pro level players on it and got to sit and learn from former number 1 pick Alex Smith for a year. Burrow went to the 2-14 Bengals during the COVID year wrecked his ACL year 1 and still has managed to take that franchise out of the mud and lead them to relevancy despite poor coaching, management and ownership. If he would've been drafted to the Chiefs 8 years ago, I think we all know he would've won 3,4,5,6 rings in the same Cushy position Mahomes landed in.

Another thing they have in common is a go to 3rd down receiver. Brady had Gronk, Mahommes has kelce, that’s big in football. I remember Aikman saying that the biggest loss in personnel was when Novachek retired, that was his go to 3rd down receiver.

On the college level Georgia losing Bowers to the nfl was huge. But both qbs are great in their own right….
