Manziel Demoted To 3rd String For Ravens Game After Partying Video
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports
According to ESPN, the Cleveland Browns announced on Tuesday that Johnny Manziel has been replaced by Josh McCown as the starting QB for the team's game against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. Manziel has actually been demoted to third string for the Ravens game after a video surfaced on Monday of him partying last weekend in Austin, TX. Head coach Mike Pettine said in a statement...
quote:

"Everyone in this organization wants what is best for Johnny just like we do for every player in our locker room. I'm especially disappointed in his actions and behavior because he has been working very hard,"

"The improvements from last year to this year have been tremendous but he still has to consistently demonstrate that he has gained a good understanding of what it takes to be successful at the quarterback position on this level. It goes well beyond the field. We are going to continue to support him in every way possible, but at this point, we've decided it's best to go with Josh as the starter going forward."
I think Johnny's NFL days are numbered.

I'll preface by saying I don't particularly like the kid, however....when did drinking on a bye week become a problem. He broke 0 laws or rules. This is why Cleveland is a parental bottom feeder

He missed part of last season to go to rehab for substance abuse and posts a video of himself drinking. It's not about breaking laws, it's about being in control of yourself before you can be in control of the offense. Last year his teammates were saying "he had a problem but he's trying to get help for it."

What are they supposed to think now?

"He broke 0 laws or rules."

We don't know what restrictions the Browns made him agree to after rehab.

I keep seeing comments all over the place "let him drink, hes just a kid, he didnt break any laws"......This guy is being paid millions to do a job and be reliable for an organization. 8 million dollar salary and he still cant do what is asked of him. He's a worthless team mate and quarterback in his current state. It aint that hard to understand this, you get paid to do your job and be reliable. This guy cant, at least not at this stage of his life.

He passed for 370 yards your telling me a team won't pick him up? His days are far from numbered... Am I supposed to take you seriously?

Typical pampered athlete that doesn't understand the 'rules of life'. Good move making him third. Next screw up, kick him to the curb or you lose the rest of your players!!!

Are you fricking serious? He's an alcoholic who was named starter then proceeded to go on a 2 day bender....this coming after another Fri king episode where his f2f said she feared for her life!
Seriously, are you 15?

This just Cleveland's way of forcing him out. I am neither a Browns fan or a Browns hater, but this is ridiculous! Gronk can go party and live it up and nothing happens, but JFF goes out on a bye week, gets back early and no impact on playing ability for the week in preparation. If I'm JFF, I would be looking elsewhere myself. As someone emanresu said, "He broke 0 laws or rules." This is a double standard.

I don't think Gronk is a big drinker. Gronk loves p%$$y. Not a good comparison.

Muahahaha, these guys play for different teams. I don't think Manziel is being punished by the NFL, it's the Browns organization that's holding Johnny Dumbass's feet to the fire. And for the record, I don't like Manziel or "Gronk", so I'm not picking on Manziel.
