So he's mad that there are extremely lucrative post-football careers available to people who can string together coherent analysis?

He really doesn’t. Room isn’t paid by the NFL. Romo and Thomas aren’t even in the same profession. Is he going to start comparing his salary to the execs at ESPN next?

Romo is very good @ his job. Generally calls the play before it happens.

Someone should let Michael Thomas know that it costs absolutely nothing to mind your own business. I've never understood people who put thought into how much someone else makes.

The Players want it all...I gave my tickets up and quit attending games bc it is so damn expensive and these guys make so much damn money. On top of all that, they bitch about not making more!

Where else besides playing ball, can they make that kind of money??

Owners, who have a lot more money, make the ticket prices go up.

Yeah just comes off jealous and petty. I mean comparing what Tony does to what the players do is just embarrassing. What Tony does brings value to what the players do on the field and draws an audience for the game which in turn gets the players paid. He really needs to learn to pick his battles better and shutty.

What's gonna bring in more audience: a NFL game with no announcers or Tony Romo doing play by play of paint drying?

What a bizarre analogy. A better one would be: “Which brings more viewers: an NFL game with no announcers, or an NFL game with announcers?” The answer is the latter, and I’m willing to bet that the difference in revenue brought in between the two would be at least 17 million per year.

Isn't the code not to discuss somebody else's contract in the nfl??? Or really just everywhere...and what exactly does this have to do with NFL contracts anyway, I agree, becoming very easy to dislike

Not just the NFL. I say good for Tony wish I could make 17 million a year. Also good for Michael Thomas for his 100 million dollar contract for catching a ball.

What a dumb comment by AustinKnight! He definitely shouldn’t worry bout what other people make especially when he’s making so much, but the players draw the audience and get paid based on their performance. I’ve never thought, I want to watch this game because so and so are announcing? What value does Tony bring? If the players suck, nobody is watching regardless of who’s talking?

Bad commentary definitely distracts from an otherwise good game. I agree that people aren’t going to tune in because such-and-such is calling the game, but people will have a worse game day experience with a bad crew. That’s worth something, and it’s silly to compare that value-add to what the players are doing.

Mike Thomas shouldn't be counting other people's money. He's not even the same profession. Thats like comparing a doctor vs Ceo. You can't!

Dude is good at his job, but is he worth 17 mil a year - NO. But it is what it is, CBS was in a bidding war for him with ESPN and others and didn't wanna lose him, so they paid, literally.

If their was a bidding war, then yes he is worth that. Market says so

Lol I love when people say someone isn’t worth their contract. Guess what? Yes they are. Because your market value is what someone is willing to pay you.
