New York Times Crowns UConn College Football’s ‘Real’ 2020 National Champion

The University of Connecticut, which was the first Football Bowl Subdivision team to squarely face the coronavirus and decide against playing a single snap during a raging pandemic.

Given the pain and tumult of the last year, it can be hard to remember there was a time when the powers that rule major college sports were more concerned about the virus than about fattening their bank accounts.

In August, it seemed as if a full-fledged collegiate football season might not happen. That’s when Connecticut, ranked among the worst teams in the nation, rose to the top of the heap, killing its season and leading the sport toward sanity.

Above was a key pc of info from the article. There’s a reason that not playing wasn’t a big deal. Hell, they probably lose money during the season and have to rely on other teams to make money. Well there really weren’t any “big check to get your arse kicked”games so their best bet to finish the season in the black was not playing.

The real champions are the SEC ACC and Big 12 that had the cojones to not cave in to the dark side. They fought for college football and to allow young men to advance their careers and yes bring joy and normalcy to people. I know we are supposed to be all wrapped up in this sea of despair but screw that and the NY Times.

let's take a moment of silence to remember the noble sacrifices of all of the football players that were forced to play and then died by the truckful of COVID, along with their coaches, family members, and fans that went to see them play. Body bags being stacked to the ceiling are a testament to the greed of the SEC and the wisdom of the New York Times and the U. of Connecticut football team.

Oh wait, none of them even got sick. Never mind.
