Louisiana Lafayette Coach Billy Napier Requiring Players Donate School's Athletic Scholarship Fund
© Scott Clause-USA TODAY Sports
In kind of a bizarre move, Louisiana Lafayette head coach Billy Napier is making his players donate to the school's athletic scholarship fund...
quote:

UL football coach Billy Napier unveiled a new team rule in his normal mid-week August camp press conference Wednesday. Starting with the beginning of this school year, all scholarship UL football players will be required to be a minimal level $50 member of the RCAF. The rule will be optional for walk-on members of the squad.

...

“It’s all about gratitude,” Napier said.

If he doesn’t, it will be because he takes a bigger job. Napier is legit.

I would have thought getting your 18 yr old brains bashed in for a coach making seven figures would be enough gratitude.

False. The players voted to do it. Non-story

The players get full cost of attendance to the tune of $7200 a year. They are asked to donate $50.

I agree with it... roughly a dollar a week and they are on a full ride.
