David Pollack Shares His thoughts On CFB’s National Title Being Legitimate Or Not
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports
Kirk Herbstreit shared his thoughts on whether or not this college football season's National Title winner will have an asterisk next to their name. Now ESPN's David Pollack gives his two cents...

“I have no problem with it,” Pollack said, via 247Sports. “Here’s where my line would change: if you have three of the five [Power 5 conferences playing], I’m good with it. We’ve seen teams claim national titles in the past that are abysmal — crazy. UCF did it a couple of years ago. We’ve seen Alabama do it. People have claimed national titles going back a long way with a lot easier circumstances than this. I think if you have three of the five, to me, it would be warranted.”

There shouldn’t be an asterisk. If the Sunbelt is the only conference to play this year and Troy State wins it, they have every right to claim a legitimate NC.

All that asterisk is going to say is the Big10 and Pac12 folded at the smallest sign of struggle and a reminder that this is the only way they could make a real impact on a national championship in most any year. I will forever shame them on that asterisk.

But he has seen them picked for playoffs and national championship game without winning either their conference or division... twice.

"We’ve seen Alabama do it." wherever he lives, there's going to be some dead trees real soon.

He's never seen Alabama do it. He was born in 1982. Among other things he hasn't seen is Georgia win a National Championship. What I see is someone who's butthurt about 2nd and 26. Not that it will happen, but it would be funny if Georgia won it this year and this guy is on record thinking it should have an asterisk.

Bull shite. If the SEC didn't play, it's fake. If you want to be the man, you have to beat the man.

I agree with him, which kills me.
