it is very unfortunate but the guy could have gotten up and retreated to first. Going on and assuming the collision would have any bearing on the call at second base is a big big assumption.

In football, the refs are part of the field. Wouldn't it be the same in baseball? For sure the ump was in the wrong but that doesn't mean he is automatically safe at second.

So the runner ran into the umpire, not the umpire tackling the runner. Shouldn't have been on the base path though. Shitty way to end the season.

Umpire was trying to move to get into better position and wasn’t paying attention to the base runner, ran right into his path. Imo should’ve given the runner second run scored dead ball.
