There is a smell that is rank at first but after a while of drinking it becomes quite delightful.

Post Katrina, downtown was under "deep-cleaning" contracts, and the city (downtown specifically) was smelling pretty good. Those contract(s), probably federally funded, have expired for some time now. And, now you have the bourbon slim smell again...
