LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva is expected to step down from his role as early as to today, according to Bussiness Report.

The report states that Alleva, who has served as LSU's athletic director since 2008, will be replaced by "a nationally recognized leader in university athletics."
quote:

While details of Alleva’s expected departure remain murky, sources say a deal is in the works to replace him with a nationally recognized leader in university athletics. That announcement is also expected in the coming days.

Alleva, 65, came to LSU in 2008 from Duke University, where he had served as athletics director. He succeeded Skip Bertman and was chosen for the position from among four finalists by then-LSU President John Lombardi and Interim Chancellor William Jenkins.

While University officials have not commented on the report, the LSU Board Of Supervisors held an executive committee meeting Tuesday at 4 p.m. to discuss "potential litigation against the University."

Alleva was not present during the meeting, however, LSU President F. King Alexander and general counsel Tom Skinner were involved in the closed-door meeting with the board, according to The Advocate.

Let's not stop here though, we need to completely clean house. Fieldon should be out right along with Joe.

I Agree. But this strikes me, and I think others, as an "offering" by Alexander. If the call for Alleva to step down is coming from someone above Alexander, then it would seem we'd be hearing that both he Alleva are stepping down. That's just a guess, though. Maybe the BOS is actually behind this, and they are delaying Alexander's ousting for some reason. Who knows. But this is a start, at least.

It appears that F. King is throwing Alleva under the bus to save his own skin. Both Alexander and Alleva were involved in making the decision about Wade's suspension. I happen to think that LSU didn't have much choice in the matter at the time, but if that decision is what precipitated Alleva's termination then Alexander should certainly go as well. There are plenty of reasons why the departure of both Alexander and Alleva is LONG overdue, but in this case both are responsible for the initial decision on Will Wade.

It's a start. Botched the Jimbo hire the first time, botched the Miles firing the first time, botched the Miles firing the second time, botched the Jimbo hiring the second time, botched the Tom Herman hiring the first time, settled on O because he was there. (not blaming O or commenting on the job he has done) Not flaming on O at all. But he hired Trent Johnson, (lousy hire), Hired JJ (lousy lazy hire), Hired over pays and won't fire an inept women's BB coach in a non revenue producing sport, has the spine of noodle when it comes to dealing with the SEC and standing up for LSU. He's done so well for LSU. What did we expect from a guy who trashed an entire sport an Duke based on an allegation later proven a lie.

Deserves to go for botching such a great basketball team. We were empirically better than auburn, uk and ut. We had a brutao draw in sparty and duke but with wade at the helm i know the sparty game would at least have gone down to the wire

It had to happen. He completely botched the Les Miles firing, not firing, firing again and now the Will Wade fiasco.

I have to wait to respond until Paul Finebaum, Dick Vitale, or Ross Dellenger tell me how to feel about this.
