LSU strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffit spoke at the Coaches Caravan in Shreveport, LA on Monday night and provided a positive update on sophomore nose tackle Tyler Shelvin.
Shelvin, a 6-3, 362-pounder from Notre Dame High School in Lafayette, La has struggled with his weight since arriving in Baton Rouge as a highly recruited prospect in the 2017 signing class but has lost 60 pounds, which is his lowest weight since high school, according to Moffit.
Head coach Ed Orgeron once said that Shelvin's weight was around 380-pounds in 2017.
Moffit also said that freshman nose tackle Apu Ika is on a weight loss program and is doing well.
