Fletcher Mackel of WDSU in New Orleans is reporting that LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker is expected to be hired as Tulane's next head coach.

Mackel says the deal is not done yet, but could be soon.

Baker would replace Jon Sumrall, who is taking over the Florida job.

Baker played linebacker at Tulane from 2000 to 2004 before getting into coaching in 2009.

Hopefully, the next one can defend a mobile QB.

Congrats to him but this kills my vibe. Guess we will see what all y'all sauces say will be his replacement.

Better now than after next season. Maybe the rest of the defensive staff will come together soon now that this process is over.

Good luck to him. And as the old saying goes, "Out with the old, in with the new!"

If you heard Kiffin’s press conference, he mastered offense by learning what gives defensive coordinators headaches. We are in good shape with him in charge. More dominoes will fall. Better go get Kelvin Sheppard, in a hurry.

Baker is an idiot. Being a DC at LSU with Kiffin is the closest he will ever get to winning a Natty.

You win a Natty THEN you leave to go try being a HC.

I don’t understand the downvoting. Ryan Day, Kirby Smart and Dan Lanning all went from never being a head coach to hired at a top job from a coordinator position.

Good riddance and good day you jackass. Get gone already. Can’t stop a mobile QB anyway.

Agree, defense was 25th in nation, mobile QB’s killed his defenses especially on 3rd downs. We can do better
