It has been reported that LSU sophomore tight end Jamal Pettigrew will miss the 2018 season after suffering an ACL knee injury. 247Sports first reported the news, according to The Advocate:

Citing a source familiar with the injury, the website reported that Pettigrew, a 6-foot-7, 262-pound tight end, suffered a knee injury that is "believed" to involve the ACL.

Surgery is likely the next step, which would sideline Pettigrew for the entire 2018 season.

Damn. Sad to hear this. I hope he fully recovers no matter if he misses the whole season. He can always get a medical redshirt.

Sucks. For this kid. He will be back. Jacory Washington, Foster Moreau, Thaddeus Moss will have us covered this year.

Forget LSU, what we may or not have done with him, or anyone else healthy, I hate seeing ACL injuries! This seems to be a career changer for any player, at any level. Get well soon, and Geaux Tigers!

Hate LSU, but damn I hate to see any kid from any team get hurt. Hope he returns fast. Was he gonna be the starting TE? Don't know much about him.

Was hoping we would take advantage of a TE in this new offense. He looked like he had potential to be a good one.

Well, that sucks. He was probably our best receiving TE. It's a good thing we got Moss.
