In expected news, LSU and defensive coordinator Bo Pelini are parting ways after one season, according to multiple sources.

Pelini was hired on January 27, signing a three-year deal worth $2.3 million a year. He replaced former defensive coordinator Dave Aranda who was left for the head coach job at Baylor.

Pelini's buyout is about $5.2 million.

LSU's defense under Pelini struggled this season giving up an average of 34.9 points per game and 492 yards per game. The Tigers finished 2020 with a 5-5 record.

Tough going trying to install an entirely new defense when there was no offseason practice. Hope the next defensive coordinator has better luck.

Amazing how easy it is for these athletic departments to spend other people’s money.

Well, the only reason they can is because big boosters give it to them. Its their money, fine with me of they use it to get is a good dc.

Stop the long term rip off contracts... Woodward really screwed A&M with their Jimbo contract. Stop that shite.

As jimbo nearly gets A&M to the playoffs.. and really, A&M should probably have ND’s spot.. if not Cincinnati

Bo is better than what he produced at LSU. It was a perfect storm of negative shite to start the year. IMO... he was not the right hire. He and Aranda are different in scheme and philosophy and require different personnel to make their defenses perform. Anyway, good luck coach. I wish you the best unless your new team squares up against the Tigers!

Get Muschamps NOW! He is not the first damn good Coach that was struck with the Peter Principle... meaning he was exceptional as a DC and for whatever reason HC was a stretch. No shame in that! Long known for creative defense that's harder to read than it is to execute. Oh, and a Natty. With the talented kids we can pull, we'll be dynamite.
