Sam Spiegelman with Rivals is reporting that LSU sophomore cornerback Eli Ricks is entering his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Ricks, a former five-star prospect from Santa Ana, CA, signed with the Tigers as part of the 2020 class. He played in all 10 games during his true freshman season last year with seven starts.

There were some rumors following the 2020 season that Ricks was thinking about transferring but he remained with the team and played in six games this year.

Ed Orgeron announced on October 13 that Ricks would miss the rest of the season with a lingering injury and would have a procedure done.

This transfer portal shite is out of control. Give that scholarship to someone that truly wants to be a Tiger!

Wish he’d stay, but it is what it is. The best thing for this program might be to clean itself of everything related to the O era.

You know, what is he going to do if we hire Aranda, probably the best defensive play caller in game to run the show? The kids are so friggen premature.

Saw that coming despite what was being said from his side…. O has destroyed this program the last 2 years.

Good…anyone that does not truly want to be at LSU shouldn’t be taking up a spot on the roster.

An All-American caliber starter want to transfer from DBU after two seasons? Man, what a POS.

This is what’s wrong with the portal. Kid wasn’t just a starter… he was a star. I’m all for kids who are buried by talent leaving to get their shot at the next level. I guess it’s hard to tell who really wants to be part of something and who wants to leach off of success. Guys like Peterson, Adams etc took from the program and added to it in their career. Guys like Gilbert and Ricks came to get the spotlight but proved that they weren’t leaders and didn’t give back.

I’ve said this before and got DV’d to hell for it, but the transfer portal, more than NIL, more than CFP and the diminishment of bowl games is going to kill college football. It breeds a spirit of discontent and shortsightedness.

I agree with you on the portal and NIL - the portal is destroying the game. But the playoff and diminishment of bowl games is GOOD for the game. There are 40 bowls - 80 of the 130 FBS teams go bowling. It's a joke. The playoffs and NY6 incorporates the major bowls, so it's all good. I don't give a damn that the vast majority of the other silly bowls are left out. They'll still exist and won't be more or less important than they are now.

Why not at least wait to see who the next HC is? Honestly, though. LSU needs a new mindset so let them go if they're not wanting to be here.

Our young backups the last 3 games have manned up. Probably as good if not better than when the 2 5 stars were in the line-up. If you don't bleed P&G move on.

Totally. Even with a new HC, we will keep Corey Raymond. He plays against the best competition and guards the best WR in practice.
