ESPN's Paul Finebaum appeared on the McElroy & Cubelic in the Morning this week and praised Brian Kelly's confidence heading into the 2025 season. Per On3:
quote:

“It’s gone wonderfully,” Finebaum said of LSU’s offseason. “When I saw him, Greg, in Destin — I don’t know what five six weeks ago — he was oozing with confidence. I really think he knows that’s the only thing he can do right now. He can’t play this second-rate game that Hugh Freeze‘s playing. It won’t work. His fans are a little bit different.
Finebaum also pointed to September as a pivotal opening stretch for the Tigers. LSU begins the season with Clemson (technically in August) and then will host Florida in Week 3, and travel to Ole Miss in Week 5 to wrap up September.
quote:

“They are used to winning national championships down there. They expect it, even though, overall, the program has been all over the place. He’s told everybody the truth. He’s got the best roster. The problem is he’s got the toughest opening game, and he’s got the toughest September. I think he’ll survive September, but that is a very tricky schedule when you consider what he has to deal with before five weeks of the season are over with.”

The offensive line will determine this season. If they are ready, we will go places. If not, it will be an up and down season.

The defense needs to turn it up a notch and play better than they have the last couple of years! If they do we will be in every game with the opportunity for victory!

He’s right. Our schedule is tough. No need to play a hard opening game. SEC is tough enough. If we must play a tough OOO game, make it the second game.

Weak brook trout attitude.

Anyone…anytime.

But why? LSU needs to make the playoffs. Who cares about your macho shite. This isn’t the BCS. Strength of schedule hardly matters. Just need wins.

That's the solution for losers. When Saban coached at Bama they played top-notch opponents the first game, at home, on the road, and neutral fields. And he always won. Brian Kelly, so far hasn't been up to the task

Not only do we have the best roster CBK has ever had, but this roster probably has more experience than any team in the entire country playing a difficult first game to the season. Now is the season to draw on this experience.

LSU - 35
Clemson - 31

I don't mind play really tough games to open.......but it had better be the opponents first game as well. I don't like it when other teams get their warmups in yet we don't.

Bring it on, don’t back down to competition, 1976 I was in college, Nebraska #1, at Nebraska we tied them 6-6. We have a much team this year than in 1976, we win by 19. And Clemson isn’t # 1

We are a used to opening up with tough opponents over the past decade or so. It’s time to stop making that an excuse and have the team ready to play same as the opponents that have beaten us in recent years. IMO we finally have a complete roster since Kelly has been here. Time to see what he can do as an SEC caliber coach

Really dumb to play Clemson with the current play off system. The rest LSU has no control over.

We scheduled the Clemson game probably 5-6 years ago.
