LSU defensive back Rickey Jefferson spoke with the media on Tuesday and talked about how he will be switching jersey numbers from 29 to 9, which is the number his older brother Jordan Jefferson wore at LSU from 2008-2011.

Jefferson was able to get the number after former No. 9 John Diarse transferred to TCU.

major respect for this kid for coming to LSU after the way his brother was treated...there must be a ton of love for LSU in that family...

What a way to honor your brother...grown men hating on 18-22 year old kids are pathetic.

This may be part of our healing process. That was Jarrett Lee's team. Oh well, what's done is done.

Rickey has been an all around blessing to have as a Tiger. His play last season when we needed him to step up, his willingness to rep his family and state considering the negativity his brother received during his recruitment. I have little doubt that he will make a successful jump to Sunday's.

He's a much much better player than his brother ever was, so I know Rickey is in good hands.
