LSU sophomore wide receiver announced on Twitter that he is transferring. Per The Advocate:

quote:

He wanted to go to a more wide open offense," Tyrone Johnson said in an interview with The Advocate on Thursday afternoon. "That was the only reason why."

LSU has blocked Tyron Johnson from transferring to another Southeastern Conference team, but the receiver could play at a junior college this fall and then re-enter the SEC, his father said. He is expected to make a decision on a school in "the next week," Tyrone said. Texas Tech and Oklahoma State were two of Johnson's finalists when he committed to LSU in January of 2015.

I don't know why people are mentioning that he fell behind on the depth chart... I mean it's practically the beginning or middle of fall camp and I'm sure a depth chart hasn't even been released yet. I read one post talking about him practicing with the freshman and some freshman practicing with the selected veterans was writing on the wall.. Horse crap!! CLM has been doing that for years and it doesn't mean he's down on the depth chart because he's practicing with the freshman. Bottom line like stripes said.. TBJ got scared of competition and decided to leave and made up a silly excuse as to his reason for leaving. TBJ knew this was a predominantly run offense when he came... Smh

Do you honestly think these dudes need to wait and look at a list posted by coaches at the end of camp like they are waiting to see what part they got in the school play? They have a strong sense of where they stand at this point, especially in considering how many touches they may get

Uh, let's see. LSU can either pass the ball to the #4 receiver on the team or hand the ball to Leonard Fournette. Really? I don't wish him any harm but this is a quitter's attitude. The guy had 1 year at LSU and saw the competition and gave up. Does he think that the competion in the NFL is easy? No. You must compete at any level. Grow up young man. Football is a team sport. If you want to be all about you then go run track. Bye.

Tyron, like Trey, started to fall behind on the depth chart. He's trying to go to the NFL. You gotta see the field to get into the league. It was smart for him to leave because with our current depth, he was only going to see garbage time, if any time at all, at this point. I wish him the best wherever he may go (unless it's Bama).

This is false. James Wright barely touched the field at LSU and has gotten significant PT in the NFL.

So you think he has a better chance to make it to the NFL by playing at Kansas or Texas Tech than at LSU?

Funny how "Forever LSU" only means 12 months to Tyron.

We must have some monster wide receivers if there have been this many transfers, but if we see lsu run the ball 80% of the time and pass like shit, we will know the reason for the transfers.

12 receivers on the roster was absurd to begin with

I'll just be clear, you spelled 'transferring' wrong. Not a good look for the main LSU message board.

if he is getting buried on the depth chart, you can't blame him a bit. best of luck to him and thanks for being a tiger!

He's good. Was looking forward to watching him break out. I'm shocked at how many good receivers we land considering our offense

Yeah, but then they go to the NFL and just keep going. We train them how to catch the uncatchable.

Weird. He made some plays last season, unseated the man in front of him, and got a lot of playing time.

Does anyone know if Drake Davis and Stephen Sullivan are going to be redshirted?

He had the hype of Odell Beckham but never really flashed the explosiveness at the college level of Odell.
