LSU officially announced the new contract details of defensive coordinator Dave Aranda on Wednesday.

Aranda's new contract is a three-year deal that runs through the 2019 season. He will make $1.8 million next year, $1.85 in 2018 and $1.9 in 2019.

His new raise, which makes him the highest-paid assistant in college football also comes with a promotion to associate head coach. Per LSUSports.net:

“We are pleased to have the best defensive coordinator in all of college football with us at LSU,” said Orgeron who first announced the agreement Sunday night. “Dave is an outstanding, coach, teacher and man. We are fortunate to have him as an LSU Tiger.”

“My family loves Baton Rouge,” said Aranda. “We are excited to build on what we’ve started. LSU is a special place. Our outstanding student-athletes, the passion of our fans, the first class facilities and the commitment to excellence from the administration makes LSU one of the premier programs in college football and I'm thrilled to be part of it.”
Here are more details on Aranda's new deal and buyout:

The agreement with Aranda runs through March 31, 2020, and includes a first-year salary of $1.8 million, followed by $1.85 million and $1.9 million respectively without any change to Aranda’s current bonus structure. His buyout options are 40 percent of his remaining guaranteed base and supplemental salary if he accepts a non-head coaching position within 500 miles of Baton Rouge and 15 percent if outside of 500 miles. After Dec. 1, 2019, there is no buyout provision.

Aranda is a scary-looking dude. Pay the man what he wants.

Year 2 could be special, with the personnel he loses he'll show us the type of coach he is. Down the road, just maybe our HC one day. Go get them linebackers now Dave.

Good to hear from Coach Aranda. Very pleased that he and his family love Baton Rouge. Kick your shoes off. Stay awhile! You are as vital a member of our staff as their is. I think once Coach O hires the other two coordinators after the bowl game, we Will have the best staff in college football! Keep recruiting hard and finish strong and next season could be special! Congrats Dave!

You're fooling yourself if you think it's about anything other than his career and money... and I'm perfectly fine with that, congrats coach!!

"His buyout options are 40 percent of his remaining guaranteed base and supplemental salary if he accepts a non-head coaching position within 500 miles of Baton Rouge"... So the UT clause.

500 miles, nice clause to have since Bama is 350 miles away. Basically he can't go to an SEC team without some serious change$$$$
