Gus Stark / LSU Athletics
LSU sophomore offensive lineman Xavier Hill has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

Hill is the third backup offensive lineman to enter the portal, joining Cam Wire and Marcus Dumervil.

The 6-4, 318-pounder from Olive Branch, Miss., played in three games with two starts during his redshirt freshman season last year but only played in three games this season.

Remind me - What happens if a kid doesn't get picked up out of the portal? Is he SOL and off to looking for a real job or does he get to stay with current school?

Another 3 star guy that was recruited to contribute his Jr and senior year but with the portal now that's no longer the case for many schools. Look at the portal its loaded with guys like this.

Look at all the selfish pricks in the comments. Both starters at his position are true freshman. That means they will start at minimum 2 more years. All the OL that left are tackles with 2+ years already. You think a kid will sit for 4 years to be a backup just so you can be happy about depth? You DGAF because you look at these kids as numbers and pieces on a board. This is somebody's life. Glad for that kid realizing that there is money to be made and he has a chance to go and make it.

I don't disagree with you except that for line positions starting isn't the only thing. We need the rotation guys to be experienced also. Hate to see some of these guys leave who may be just coming into their own as quality rotation players.

I wonder if this was expected? Would have been good depth with a great chance to start the following year. Good luck to the young man.

Not too sure about starting seeing as his only PT has been at LT and that spot is locked down between Jones & Heard for next few years.
