The LSU Football program has received recruiting sanctions from the SEC after a recruit signed a financial aid agreement but then decommitted from LSU, according to Ross Dellenger with The Advocate:
quote:

LSU is banned from signing early enrollee recruits to financial aid agreements for the next two years, and the program will be stripped of 10 percent of its recruiting evaluation days in 2015, according to public records obtained by The Advocate:

The penalties, handed down by the Southeastern Conference and reported by the school Feb. 3, stem from a violation that occurred this fall involving an unnamed recruit.

The recruit signed a financial aid agreement with LSU intending to enroll early in January, but he decided not to enroll at the school. That makes at least some of LSU’s unlimited contact with the prospect illegal.
The recruit that is being mentioned in this article is Matt Womack from Mississippi who decommitted from LSU and ended up signing with Alabama.

They should ban the recruit for 2 years for pulling out. Don't penalize the University.....TOTAL BS

And why did I know before I read the article that this was dealing with a player who eventually signed with Alabama. So let me get this straight, we get penalized because an 18 year old kid changed his mind??? The SEC office needs to be moved out of Birmingham because this is just plain STUPID! Ugh!

Everyone should do that to toy with schools they don't like then. I think must of us already know who the kid is.

Womack at one time was committed to LSU before swapping his pledge to the Tide on Sunday.

I am one for cracking down on recruiting infractions but this is one rule that makes no sense. So basically a kid can't apply for financial aid and change his mind or the school get penalized?
