LSU athletic director Joe Alleva joined the "Culotta & The Fan" 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge radio on Friday and talked about the cancellation between LSU and Florida.

Alleva made it loud and clear that LSU made every attempt to play this game.
quote:

"Like I said yesterday. LSU made very effort to play the game, Alleva said. "We offered for them to come here and offered for us to go there."

"I offered to have our men get up very early Sunday morning, fly to Florida, play the game and fly home."

"We at LSU tried everything we could to get the game in. We would have done anything to get the game in. Anything. We would have done anything to play the game."

"We were willing to play anywhere that we needed to play."
When asked about a report by ESPN's Bret McMurphy that LSU turned down an offer to play Florida on November 19th, Alleva said that his report "is flat out a lie."
quote:

"That's a flat out lie. No one has contacted me," Alleva said. "And that's a perfect example of terrible journalism."

"He just tweets out that garbage. That's an absolute lie."
Alleva also said that he will talk to the league office about the SEC tiebreaker which is based on winning percentage.
quote:

"I think it has to be a topic of discussion as we go through the rest of the season, no doubt. That winning percentage is something that needs to be discussed."
Alleva was asked if he ultimately thinks the game will be made up this season.
quote:

"I think it's going to be very difficult. That's all I'm going to say about it right now.'

The scenarios that I see down the road would require some serious changing in schedules."
To make this game up, LSU and Florida would need to cancel future home games set for Nov. 19 against South Alabama and Presbyterian. Will it happen? We will have to wait and see.

JOE, ARE YOU WATCHING ESPN GAMEDAYE? THEY ARE TELLING A DIFFERENT STORY THAN WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. SORRY TO BREAK THE BAD NEWS TO YOU!

This is an easy fix that LSU should demand through whatever means. Other SEC coaches should be very alarmed at what is transpiring and the effects it puts on teams. UF needs to a.) play at the venue of their choosing before Tuesday 12am OR b.) forfeit. There is no c, or any other options. Plain and simple.

Enough about what happened. Tell us what is happening now!

Alleva should have been on the phone all day with the SEC & Florida AD. Instead he was on the radio calling Florida's AD a lier. If this was Alabama the game would be happening this Sunday!

Ridiculous this game was cancelled. It's been raining and windy in Orlando, but this is much closer to the coast than is Gainesville. FSU can go to Miami and play, but UF doesn't wanna play in Gainesville? Smells of a lame excuse.

I completely agree. I been saying the same thing all day. Florida didn't want to play this game and they wiggled out of it. Plan and simple...

Weather Channel for Gainesville, Florida, Saturday: 66-84, Partly Coudy 10% chance of rain. Sunday: 63-80, Sunny 0% chance of rain. Monday: 60-75, Sunny 0% chance of rain. AND THE SEC BOUGHT INTO THEIR STRATEGIC EXCUSE!

Only way the SEC can remotely fix this screw up on their and UF's part is to force Florida and Georgia to move their Oct 29 game up a week to Oct 22. Both teams are idle that weekend. LSU is idle Oct 29, reschedule UF-LSU for Oct 29. Although that would take away LSU's bye week going into the Bama game, its the only solution at this point that doesn't involve cancelling any other games....unless they can pull off rescheduling it to this Monday since Orlando/Gainesville area didn't have much damage.

"Alleva also said that he will talk to the league office about the SEC tiebreaker" The one whose headquarters are located an hour from Bama's campus? Yeah, good luck with that.

Need a fark of the State Farm commercial...where Joe is the wife calling Jake at State Farm "Hideous". Except Jake would be McMurphy.

This throws me into a tailspin of pissed off. Jim McElwain is a pussy. LSU has had their fare share of bad coaches but how do you support a guy who strategically avoids a football game. Basically admitting he's scared of his opponent. Hell, we could play Southern University and Dawson Odums wouldn't admit to his team that he's scared to play LSU. frickin Pussies. We would play on neutral ground.

Alleva actually sounds like he has a backbone. Florida totally jerked us around for their benefit.
