Lane Kiffin Comments On Whit Weeks After His Surgery On Monday

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin spoke with reporters on Monday and was asked about linebacker Whit Weeks, who had surgery on his foot earlier in the day after suffereing a broken fibula in the Texas A&M.

Kiffin didn't have a timeline for his return and said he didn't know if he would return this year:

“I don’t know exactly; I just know he’ll be out a while," Kiffin said.

"That’s a tough one, not just because, obviously, of the impact to the team. I mean, look at last year. Look at the points per game when he played versus when he didn’t last year."

“And It’s not just because of the player that he is. It’s the mentality and what he brings around him and how he is."

"That’s really probably why I was in the mood that I was in after the game, just knowing the impact and feeling horrible for him after he came back to have this great year, to get LSU fixed, to get the defense fixed.

"And then here it is, you know, right in the middle of being fixed and playing great, and this happens in, again, a freak injury of your own player rolling into you. I don’t know that.”

Following his response, Kiffin was quickly asked if Week will return this year.

“I don’t know that.”

It was previously reported that Weeks would be out for 4-6 weeks, which could possibly put his return in November, when LSU will face Alabama and Texas, along with Tennessee and Arkansas.

In the meantime, linebacker Davhon Keys will have to hold it down while Weeks is out.
