LSU Freshman Deuce Geralds Earns SEC Honor After Texas A&M Win

LSU freshman defensive lineman Deuce Geralds was named SEC Freshman of the Week following the Tigers’ 35-6 win over Texas A&M, the conference announced Monday.

Geralds earned the honor after LSU’s defense held the Aggies to six points on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. The freshman had five tackles and two sacks in the game.

LSU’s Deuce Geralds, a freshman defensive tackle from Suwanee, Ga., started his fourth straight game and posted five tackles, including a career-high 2.0 sacks totaling 11 yards in losses, as the Tigers rolled to a 35-6 win over Texas A&M. As a unit, LSU’s defense limited the Aggies to just 197 total yards and 11 first downs and forced A&M to punt on six of its first eight possessions as the Tigers built a 28-6 lead in the third quarter.

A year after Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed accounted for four touchdowns, rushed for 108 yards and threw for 202 yards in a 49-25 win over LSU, the Tigers limited him to minus-13 rushing yards and only 10 completions for 106 yards. The Aggies had only one drive of seven plays or more and were 4-of-15 on third down and 0-for-1 on fourth down.
