LSU Dominates Texas A&M In Statement Win At Tiger Stadium

No. 10 LSU bounced back in a big way Saturday night, dominating No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers took control early, carried a 14-3 lead into halftime, and then broke the game open with 21 points in the third quarter.
LSU struck first when running back Dilin Jones scored on a direct snap for a 7-0 lead.
Texas A&M answered with a field goal, but LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt led an impressive drive late in the second quarter. After connecting with Winston Watkins Jr. on a pair of explosive plays, Leavitt found Jackson Harris for a 16-yard touchdown to give the Tigers a 14-3 halftime lead.
Leavitt delivered one of his best performances of the season despite playing through a hamstring injury that left him noticeably limping and limited his mobility. He completed 17 of 23 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns, with his lone interception coming on a tipped pass.
After the game, Leavitt told reporters he was dealing with a hamstring injury but will "be just fine.”
Harris was Leavitt's biggest weapon on the night, turning in a breakout performance with six catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns.
The two connected again early in the third quarter when LSU faced fourth-and-short near midfield. The Tigers sold the run before Leavitt found Harris completely uncovered for a 57-yard touchdown that pushed the lead to 21-3.
From there, LSU pulled away quickly.
The Tigers' defense stopped Texas A&M on fourth down, and backup quarterback Landen Clark capped the ensuing possession with a four-yard touchdown run. Clark added another rushing score later in the quarter to extend LSU's lead to 35-6.
LSU's defense dominated throughout the night, keeping Texas A&M out of the end zone and never letting the Aggies establish an offensive rhythm.
Quarterback Marcel Reed completed just 10 of 26 passes for 106 yards with one interception and was sacked four times. LSU also contained him on the ground, holding Reed to -13 yards on 10 carries.
Tamarcus Cooley recorded the interception as the Tigers consistently prevented Texas A&M from generating explosive plays or sustaining drives.
LSU improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play with the win. The Tigers return to Tiger Stadium next Saturday to face McNeese State. Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
