Herschel Walker: Leonard Fournette Is Better Than I Was In College

Former Georgia running back and 1982 Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker recently spoke with TMZ Sports and talked about LSU's Leonard Fournette, who he says was better than him.

"He's better than I was," Walker says ... noting that Fournette is the clear frontrunner for the Heisman.

Herschel says he's extremely impressed with Fournette's athleticism AND his toughness -- "He's like a fullback because he can take punishment and keep on going."

"It's a bad idea to talk about leaving early, just wait and your time will come."

Thats high praise coming from a three time all-american.

LF7 has a lot of college and SEC football to play before he can be compared to HW34.

Wow, that is a hell of a compliment. I do not, however think LF7 is "better" than Herschel. I think LF has more potential, but the end results will determine if he will be better than Walker. Either way, LSU fans will be speaking LF's name in the same breaths as Billy Cannon, Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Ap etc.. Damn good young man.

Quite a compliment coming from Herschel. Herschel is still a beast physique for 50+ years old. I hope to still look as good when I get to that age.

Truth be told, Walker and Jackson were likely better pure athletes than Fournette, but Leonard might very well be the best pure running back of the three, but he will have to show that he can do what he has done so far, consistently throughout the season.

Nah, this shouldn't make UGA fans upset. Walker is a class act, and does a lot of service and volunteering. Him saying something like this doesn't surprise me.
