The LSU Football team departed for Orlando, Florida, Tuesday for their upcoming matchup vs. Purdue in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 2.

More than 15 players have either entered the transfer portal or declared for the NFL Draft and will not be suiting up vs. the Boilermakers.

This week, LSU released an updated depth chart for the Citrus Bowl:

Portal is going to cause every team, not in the playoffs, to suffer depth issues.

Lord, we only have 8 guys total on our 2 deep for oline? Obviously, this isn’t full roster bc there’s at least one lineman who hasn’t entered portal in K Thomas. Still a bit surprising to me though.

Around 50 players. Unreal how weak this roster still is right now.

Between the portal, graduation, guys leaving early for draft we won’t have a full roster for several years. That’s why they’re allowing teams to load up this year and it will likely take another year for everyone to get to 80+ on their roster. We had quite a few one and done guys we picked up out the portal and already on our roster. Add the transfers and here we are. It’s going to take 4 complete classes to be back to a full roster. Idiots still blaming O like he’s got anything to do with who’s leaving this year and we probably have just as many leaving under CBK. Like any of these coaches can predict the amount of players who will leave every year. We’ll just have to hit the portal hard again. There are still really good players in the portal to get. We need another 3-4 DL, 2-3 LB, 2-3 CBs and 2-3 S. We could use another TE, 2-3 OL, and a RB as well. That’s 13 to 18
more players. I think if they mix in the 1 year players with the multi-year guys it should fall right, where the roster still looks good for the incoming class but also leave us with enough depth. Unless they decide to pick up another 5-6 in the freshman class and then load up next year also. Two 30+ freshman classes with 10+ portal players each year should get us close to a full roster next year. Of course we’ll probably lose another 10 players to transfer portal next year. It’s crazy! They need to cap this transfer rule or lack of rule. These players will keep leaving just to play somewhere else. Bech is a prime example. He didn’t have to leave and he would have gotten plenty of playing time next year. As long as your part of a winning team and get to play your part in it, that should be good enough. 5-6 catches a game with 60-80 yards with 1 TD per game average is plenty good. He could have easily done that next year. He just ran into a little bad luck this year. Not a good reason to leave the school you’ve always wanted to play for imo.
