John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
LSU head coach Ed Orgeron joined ESPN's 'First Take' on Thursday and was asked about the possibility of rematch between LSU and Alabama in the playoffs.

Here's what he had to say:
quote:

"Obviously, we have to win the rest of our games," Orgeron said. "We have the SEC Championship, those are the things we are thinking about now."

"Whoever they tell us to play when we do get there, if we get there... we're going to play them. And if it's Alabama, then it's Alabama. It's out of our control."

"I do believe the best teams need to be in the College Football Playoffs but thats completely out of my control. We can control beating Ole Miss this week and that's what I'm thinking about."

Looks like Tua is done for the year which is horrible for him but frick Bama. Facing a Jones led Bama will be different

IDGAF if LSU plays the same team twice. What I DO GAF about is the losing team of the first match getting a bye week before the playoffs while the victor plays a game against top level competition.

The Playoffs should be about FAIRNESS. Having to play the same team twice where the the results of the first game do not count...is not FAIRNESS. Imagine if a #1 seeded team in Basketball was upset only to then be allowed to participate in the FINAL FOUR. UPSET does not imply do-overs.

you're correct if the loss is in the tournament - then you don't get a rematch. But there have been rematches in the March Madness tournament from earlier games in the regular season.

May not have to worry about that.....Mississippi State in Starkville with their running game could pull the upset.....and then there is Auburn

It doesn't matter if its Bama, OSU or some other team. This LSU team has a completely different level of confidence & swagger than any previous LSU team has had since maybe the 2003 NC Team if ever! Of course 99% of that confidence is due to Mr. Burrow. LSU's never had a QB like JB, not in my lifetime at least & I'm 45! I say line em all up, JB's Got this shite .......

2011 team didn’t have swag? They destroyed the PAC-12 & Big East Champs. Beat Bama on their field and destroyed UGA in the SEC-CG (despite a miserable 1st half).

My Bama fan buddy said he doesnt want this Bama team in CFP unless they fix their defense because he knows they will get boat-raced vs Ohio st, Clemson or maybe LSU again

Coach Speak "Saban will be wanting to retire after the next beat down, if that comes in January instead of next November, so be it"

Why? What have they done to deserve it?

They beat aTm and some Oweo-type schools.

No, no they shouldn't. He played the entire game. If he was healthy enough to play the entire game, and they still lost, too bad. Their schedule is garbage, and they don't deserve to be in.

At least he didn’t say he’d be honored to.

O said the right thing here. But once again, they do not deserve to be there. We need to stop entertaining the idea of them in the playoffs, because it's just playing into their narrative yet again. Put them down like the dogs they're becoming. It's our time.

Not worried about playing Bama again . LSU was in total control the whole game . The game was never in doubt . Every time Bama scored LSU answered back ...

That’s not even remotely close to the truth

It pretty much is the truth. LSU led the entire game and Alabama never had a legit chance to score and take the lead (minus the first drive by Bama). He didn't say LSU dominated, just that they were in total control the whole game. I would agree.

We should beat Bama again to make them regret their mulligan and make them afraid of ever getting another one.

Much better response than, "It would be an honor to play that team again."

Sorry people consider Bama one of the top 4 teams, year in and year out?

Would be nice for them to actually play a real schedule for a change. They always have a bye before LSU (scared) ..and a cupcake right before Auburn. Tenn hasn’t been good in ages. But hey..their name is Alabama and coached by almighty Saban..they MUST be one of the best 4 even without a quality win.

LSU always has a bye before playing Alabama as well.

Yup, he skurrred. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA joking b/c he beat that a$$ @ their home.

That was a pure beat down...should have been 33-3 at half. Fluke punt return along with a bush league trick play. LSU played a little looser in 2nd half allowing the run game to get goin. Was a breeze.
