This is the same guy that coached Ole Miss. The only difference I see in him is that he's learned exactly what to say to keep the attention off of him. His next move will be the " forget about this season I'm getting these freshman quarterbacks ready and recruiting bigger lineman". Whatever! With any luck both he and Etling will be sacked together

If I remember correctly, Coach O didn't recruit while he was the interim coach. He waited till after he got the job and then hit the recruiting trail hard. Several players lost due to that recruiting delay this past year. Not happy about last weekend but I still don't think we've seen this staff and this team at full strength yet. Season starts over, 2 win-able games coming up and then a "prove us wrong" game at Florida.

Reading all these comments, fire everyone after one loss, amirite?

Mostly everyone expects O to pop LSU in the microwave and have a championship team. Smh. Maybe just maybe we give him a shot at running the program and let him fix the issues. Maybe it works maybe it won't but you also have to understand if you fire him, you have a 12 mil buyout plus all of the coaches at the school walk out as well. Then you have the risk of no great or close to great coach coming in to a disaster/dumpster fire cause of previous leadership and all that has happened over one year. Would you want to come to LSU if you knew you weren't successful after one year the fan base calls for your head?

Exactly, semperfitolsu. All this negativity is doing is hurting recruiting. Remember, kids follow social media. The way our fans respond after a loss, no wonder we're losing top recruits. Blame yourself, haters. And just what Championship coach is out there who will quit their current job and come to LSU with our wishy washy fanbase? That's right: Not a fricking one! Not satisfied with the program? Look in the mirror, haters! I am for LSU!

Saban lost to ULM his first year at Bama.

He didn't have nearly the players LSU has. Not a fair comparison at all.

And Saban has lost very few games ever since. Where as we've been waiting on a BCS bowl game or playoff game for a DECADE now.

O lost to a lot of teams his first year at ole miss. What's your point?

I'm amazed how people cannot look at things objectively. There are significant problems and weaknesses on the roster. You can't expect to change the entire culture with regard to QB's with a hire and no chance to recruit. Ed O can't turn water into wine on the OL, LB, and DL. He may not have been the right answer (to be determined), but at least be objective enough to acknowledge the problems with the roster and give him a chance to recruit and try and solve problems that were put in his lap on day one. I'm on the fence with him as a hire, but dam, he's doing everything he can to turn things around. Much more than the stagnant coach before him.

Nick Saban can, then why not O?

What he inherited are the same players he recruited.

AZLSUTIGER1 - nick saban's first year at bama === The team closed the regular season at 6–6 (4–4, SEC). Do you think before you say things?

The program has a coach in his first year as the HC, also an offensive coordinator in his first year. We lost a lot of leadership/experience to the draft this past year. We looked like a bunch of freshmen playing their first time big game in college because that's exactly what it was. Yes we have loads of young talent, but there will be growing pains this year. You don't lose the talent and experience we lost and not take a step back. Still a lot of football left to play this year. SEC seems down this year if we improve a little each week and get some guys healthy we will be fine. Not all is lost.

Growing pains don't happen EVERY year. Also, see what Alabama does with freshmen. They STILL make it to playoffs.

Where was all this when people where yelling 10-2 and 11-1? I explained the lack of depth and inexperience of the depth and we can't take injuries to either line yet was ignored. Now you idiots see huh?

You nailed it, NWLAtiger55. I checked latest depth chart and found we are starting 13 freshman and sophomores and that's before injuries. Could be more. As for Bama, AZLSUTIGER1, they blend in freshman, but not at the rate we've had to this season. It takes time. The good news is, we have 2 winnable games that should net some playing time for our qb's and other younger players. Then on to Florida and beyond. I think this team will show progress as the season rolls on. The world won't come to an end if LSU doesn't win a championship this year. Next year, who knows? I am for LSU!

It really is a simpleton's approach to think that running a kid is gonna improve anything. Perhaps stamina, that's all. It ain't gonna make them any less of a dumbass.

It's about the penalties. You ever play high school level sports and mess up - either on the field or off? Running til you barf is not something you forget and definitely made me not do it again.

It is a punishment to moderate and modify behavior... you must fashion yourself more the carrot than the stick person.

Orgeron said #LSU players were in the football building Sunday morning on their day off watching film, working out. "You see the leadership" Nice. I'm sure Donnie Alexander was the first one there watching film and working out. What a leader. GTFO

Done with Orgeron already. He was never the guy for this job, and we're paying the price for his incompetence and Alleva's stupidity. We need to fricking fire Alleva NOW, then get rid of Orgeron right after.

We need more OLs and DLs. It has become a serious problem and one of the trademarks of recruiting under Miles was him recruiting just the bare minimum of linemen. Now with Shelvin out, Ed Alexander out, Herron whatever, Neil Farrell ejected, Arden Key slowed, and Rashard Lawrence out it has reached meltdown proportions on Defense. On Offense we lost several who transferred. I have never seen anything like this.

How about we teach them technique. Running as punishment is dumber than dirt. Execution and attention to detail yields fewer penalties

running makes the coaches feel better

Yeah, how about instead of running, we drill more and more technique. Running isn't going to get the point across to college kids.

I feel you, but we would be far worse along the DL if Eaux had NOT come to LSU. His DL recruiting has helped, but it still has to get better.
