ESPN analyst and former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy appeared on ‘College Football Live’ this week and explained how the expectations for Myles Brennan are 'unreasonable' as he tries to replace Heisman quarterback Joe Burrow. Per 247 Sports:
quote:

“I think that these expectations need to be cut in half,” McElroy said of Brennan. “They’re unreasonable, just given all the pieces that they have to replace, and they’re playing a 10-game conference gauntlet in the SEC … I still expect them to be really good and really talented. I actually really really like Myles Brennan, and I think he’ll fill in Joe Burrow’s big shoes. I think he’ll fill them admirably. This issue is, I think the continuity between coordinator and coach won’t be what it was last year. I don’t know how it possibly could be.
McElroy also thinks the Tigers will miss former defensive coordinator Dave Aranda this year...
quote:

“They are really going to miss Dave Aranda on the defensive side of the football. Bo Pelini is there, an experienced guy that has been there in the past and built some great defenses, but knowing that every team in the SEC West has likely improved, it might be a lot tougher for LSU to maintain that same level of dominance, I think, both on offense and defense.”

Having high expectations is the reason why programs sustain success. Hey Greg you think Alabama fans don’t have high expectations for Mac Jones this year? Believe it or not the reason why Alabama is good year in and year out is because they demand success. Your program and fans should always have high expeditions. That’s just my opinion.

Imho, Aranda was overrated. WI's defense improved and got better when he left and went to LSU.

His comments about Aranda does not make any sense. LSU was not dominant on defense last year and if other teams have improved it has nothing to do with who is LSU's DC.

The Tiger defense did not show signs of "dominance" until they were embarrassed in Oxford in the 10th game of the season on Nov. 16th. The Texas (38), VANDERBILT (38), Florida (28), Ole Miss (37) games were decided by a balls to the walls performance by the offense. We will NOT miss Aranda and I don't believe him leaving was totally his choice.

I am 100% positive the reason why the defense was great toward the end of the season and not through Ole Miss had zero to do with Aranda or his brainiac schemes. It was due to the shear will and determination of the players who got tired of hearing the noise. Exotic schemes that never send blitzes and press coverage on 3 and 15s will not be missed.

You guys sure know how to shite on people once they are gone from here. It's actually kind of childish. When Aranda was here he couldn't be paid enough to be convinced to stay and many were wanting him to be coach in waiting because of how damn good he was.

I get what he's saying about Brennan, but he'll be better than he expects. As for Aranda, bwahahahahaha. We are WAY better off with Pelini.
