Former LSU wide receiver Trey Quinn will be transferring to SMU, according to 247 Sports. He will sit out this upcoming year and then will have two years of eligibility.

The Lake Charles, LA native announced his decision to transfer back in February but stayed at LSU to finish out the semester.

Quinn and SMU wide receiver coach Justin Stepp sent out the following Tweets on Wednesday night.

Bad QB play and no passing game I'm surprised they haven't all transferred...

"Don't let the door hit you....in the hands" Holy shit, the rare sextuple post. I thought that was only a thing of urban legend.

Should have seen this coming. He was recruited by Chad Morris at Clemson, IIRC, and was one of the finalists for his services. Should do really good at SMU. I don't think it was much of a QB problem as people like to think. Dural and Dupre both notched 700 yards and at least 6 TDs the past 2 years. It seemed more like a scheme fit problem, and just couldn't get on the field with the talent ahead of him. A 1000 yard season isn't out of the realm of possibilities for him. I will watch to see what he does in the future.

He'll catch 80+ balls, 1100+ yds in the slot a la Wes welker/Julian Edelman. And LSU fans like myself will scratch our heads and wonder why we couldn't keep him around. I think he's going to be awesome there.

I understand why he transferred. It was the best thing for him. Other than that, I totally agree with you. This kids puts in the work and he will become an elite slot receiver for someone on draft day. As much as I hate NE,he would become a star real early with them.

I wonder why people always compare him to Wes Welker and Julian Edelman.

julian edelman and wes welker are two totally different types of wrs. trey quinn also ran a 10.5 100m in high school. he's a burner, just not as athletic as dupree.

Could not make the big possesion catches when needed.....looked scared against SEC defenses.

Things just weren't in the cards for him to find the success he's looking for as a Tiger. Takes a lot of courage to chase his dream elsewhere. ??????

He will thrive in the Chad Morris offense. Nice move by both parties. Best of luck to Trey.

Great place to receive an education, play some football and slang some tang. Simply not a better place than SMU (TCU is close second) to Pony Up.

Arguably had the best hands on the team. Just never seemed to fit into the offensive scheme and poor QB play.

Best hands? I wouldn't say that. But he is an exceptional talent. He'll get better and he will thrive at SMU. They definitely got a winner.
