MLK dropped to his knees in the street to protest. But it was real. These guys are doing it for retweets. Landry is a good guy. Made some mistakes in college, but a damned good kid.

Political pawns is the main reason. Societies have few sacred things but country and flag should be one thing that brings everyone together. When a portion of the citizenry believes the very flag we live under is no longer worthy of two minutes of respect that portion of the citizenry has become the dividing problem and not the unifying solution.

From my understanding, they are kneeling to bring awareness to injustices being done against people of color in the United States of America. The problem that I see is that by them kneeling, it's making people aware that they are coming across as unpatriotic. To me The Flag represents the freest and greatest nation on earth and the sacrifices made to make sure that flag still flies over this great nation. Not the President, Cops, Nazi's, nor any one individuals beliefs. IMO, they chose a poor platform and it's getting negative attention and further dividing us while the objective goes unnoticed.

Great job Jarvis. One of my all time favorite Tigers. I can still see the hit on the Auburn kickoff returner in 2011.

Yup said they said the same thing to MLK and Rosa Parks you dumb arse hypocrites. F***ing want to be Americans. Who the f*** are you'll to dictate when, where, how someone protest?!?

@DieHeartTigah Protests are a way of conveying dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. The protesters should have in mind a different state of affairs so that they can press for change to be made. Protesting in a way which spits on and disrespects a key traditional component of the dominant culture, when you need to change the minds and hearts of the people who participate in that culture, is ineffective at persuading the target audience to change its ways. It's why MLK, Parks, and Gandhi were all successful while more radical reformers don't ever get things done. Cultural shifts require compromise and mutual understanding. Defiance for its own sake doesn't get anybody anywhere.

Perfect thing to say. Simple and exactly the correct way to go about it.

the ones kneeling loves their country and the military too... it amazes me how certain people can't figure out it has nothing to do with the flag or love for country... the fact that we are even having the conversation says the 'protest' worked lol

I can think of a million better ways to protest your cause than to do it during the National Anthem. Just not well thought out because that is about as divisive as the debate on abortion is.

if they love the country so much, why are they trashing it so much, other than being giant attention whore sheep?
user avatar

Then "protest" after the game!! Just attention whores being used as tools by the fascists....Disney owned espn, news media, blm, etc.....

but some how the draft dodging president is patriot lol

Getting out of getting drafted into an unjust war in Vietnem is more American than a bunch of whiny brats who make millions virtue signaling because some black men getting shot for being stupid and trying to fight a cop and doing bad sh*t. It's not an epidemic and you won't ever get rid of a few sh*theads. These athelets need to do what that draft dodging president did and instead of kneeling quit your job making millions and go into public service as a cop and make real change.

When asked about his teammates’ protested, Landry defended them last Sunday by saying they did it with the intent to improve the country they love. “Those are my brothers and my family,” he said Sunday. “I believe in the same things they believe in. The world should see that (expletive) and stop being blind to it… It’s for the team, for our brothers, for this country. It was for this country.”

M0st ra6ional good hearted Americans think likewise. I won't argue there are problems because they are, and they come from big government everybody wants until they don't want it, but there is a time and a place for everything, and the national anthem is not the time or place for such a thing.
