Former LSU and current San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid joined Colin Kaepernick on Thursday and chose not to stand for the National Anthem before their preseason game against San Diego.

Instead of standing during the anthem, both players dropped to a knee. Per ESPN:
quote:

SAN DIEGO -- Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the singing of the national anthem Thursday night, continuing his protest before the San Francisco 49ers' preseason finale at San Diego.

This time, he had company, as safety Eric Reid joined him in taking a knee just before the anthem as boos rained down from the crowd.

On Sunday, Kaepernick vowed to continue his protest during the national anthem until "significant change" is made regarding racial oppression in the United States.

If they really want to do something they should actually do something to help mold and change the future. Cowards point out problems. Heroes fix them.

1st amendment gives them the right to do this and it's not hurting anyone. 1st amendment also gives me the right to call them assholes.

Kaepernick was fined by the NFL for calling an opposing player the "N" word, and he is the spokesman for poor treatment of the oppressed minorities? Sounds more like he was part of the oppression. Shame that others like Reid do not know who they are kneeling with.

Welp, frick Reid also... Of course, everyone has their rights. And they are within theirs to do this. But it's the wrong avenue. You don't disrespect your country that provides you with that very right. You don't disrespect the men and women that gave, and continue to give, their lives for these fricks. It's their right, but it's shameful.

To be fair, I believe Kaepernick was shown standing and applauding when they paid tribute to the military personnel and veterans in attendance.

Despite making up just 13% of the population, blacks committed half of homicides in the United States for nearly 30 years. DOJ statistics show that between 1980 and 2008, black people committed 52% of homicides. In 2013, black criminals committed 38% of the murders. Whites accounted for just 31 percent.Nov 28, 2015 5 Devastating Facts About Black-on-Black Crime - Breitbart This is a FACT. Black people are disproportionately responsible for crime. There is no denying this fact. Yet, they continue to blame society for being oppressed. You aren't oppressed. People just know that blacks are highly more likely to be criminals. Why doesn't the black community fix that instead of blaming everyone else fortheir place in society and disrespecting the Flag and the country?

You really have no understanding of statistics, but I would expect nothing less than what you just provided. Thanks for that.

As an old friend of mine from college once said, "Ahhh what the f#ck ever dude!" The only reason things like this snowball out of proportion to what it really is from the beginning is 110% due to the media. Our problem nationally is that we worry so much about what's happening in culturally significantly different areas, I.e. South vs West/east coast. The media magnifies differences on a regular basis. It's what sells ad space. I personally don't care what goes down socially in California because it has little to no affect on me other than the media portraying the South as a giant wasteland of redneck racists, which is not the case by and large. Just my two cents. Sorry for the rant.

Well, frick them both. If blacks in this country want things to change then start by changing attitudes in black communities. They worry about racial oppression but ignore the ridiculous murder rates of black on black crime in the USA. Start trying to reach the young blacks by positive methods instead of glorifying thugs and filth passed off as music. Stop blaming America for your own shortcomings.

What exactly are you doing about white on white crime?
user avatar
hairydude92 months
What is white community doing about white on white crime? First, we support our police officers who are working to protect everyone. Second, we are fighting like hell to maintain the institution of marriage and family as a socializing agent. Thirdly, we practice faith because the job of conditioning the human heart is bigger than you and bigger than me. Lastly, we seek to educate ourselves. Only a damn fool believes that the solution to violence is in violence. Or that revenge is the great equalizer.

@DocJerome- 1. Whites are not having babies born and raised by single mothers at a 75% clip. 2. they are putting an emphasis on education. Those two things right there are what prevent breeding grounds for trapping your future generations in poverty, crime, and dependence.

Idiots. I agree with previous poster. Losers blame, winners solve. Perfect explanation of all these blaming losers. We all make choices and live with the choices we make.

Doc Jerome, if you don't realize that the black population of this country is disproportionately responsible for crime then you are either uninformed or lying to yourself. Dumbass.
user avatar
DocJerome92 months
White people commit more crimes than Black people in America, they also are more likely to shoot and kill a police officer - that is a fact, not the BS talking points you are espousing. Go do some real research and go get a real heart.

I agree with many here. Take 90% of their pay and give it to the poor they say are oppressed. They make millions a year playing a game defined in the USA. Then they protest against that same country. Leave the game and go work for your cause on the streets where you say it is happening!
