Former LSU star and current SEC Network Analyst Marcus Spears was on The Paul Finebaum Show Monday and said it's time for Tigers to make a change at head coach.

Spears was calling for Les Miles' job after LSU's 16-14 loss to unranked Wisconsin in the season opener this past Saturday. Per Saturday Down South:
quote:

“More than anything, it might be time for a change at LSU,” Spears said. “I’m calling it. I know a lot of people say, ‘Don’t get caught up on the one-game scenario.’ The issue for LSU is that with the ending of last season and how tumultuous that was, and then you go into (an) offseason and all the talk being about what are you going to do offensively to showcase these guys on the field. And nothing changed in the first game of the season.”

When Finebaum pressed Spears about potentially overreacting to just one game, he said: “It’s not one game. I made that mistake and said, ‘It’s one game,’ after I saw the loss. But then I think back to what this issue was. The issue can’t be the same from last year. … It’s time for a new coach.”

This was the game to PROVE that there was change. There wasn't. Harris has not improved, the O-line has not improved, our punting was pathetic and the play calling was the exact play calling we have seen for way too long. So much talent and truly poor coaching and preparation.

Marcus is right. He provides very good analysis on his radio and TV appearances. Good LSU ambassador!!'

All these idiots from other fanbases just can't believe that we would fire miles after all he's done here, and unfortunately that perception played a huge role in keeping him here. frick what other people think, this is about LSU.

It's so easy for outsiders to say "one game overreaction " because they don't watch all the games. If they did they'd know it's the same shite game in and game out.

True so true year in year out we get Les

Totally agree. Spot on. Les teams are never ready. Over 10 years of this uninspiring lack of discipline football.

Not saying I don't agree with Marcus, but remember the Oregon opener.

Tiger fans are exhausted after 10 years of watching underproduction and inefficient development of talent. The outcome of games still undecided in the last minute when they should have been coasting with a win and developing second teamers (esp QBs) in the 4th quarter has left Tiger fans with an inability to continue to support this coach. If they don't change, they can have my tickets. BTW, THIS IS NOT A ONE GAME REACTION!

Since les is still the coach, can I call dibs on the tickets?

He's definitely not overreacting. It's been the same issue's time and time again. If I was Alleva I would've fired him Kiffin style. As soon as he touched down on the air strip

Les will not be fired unless we have a losing record anytime after the 4th game. 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, etc.

I agree that Les needs to go, but how much would that help us as far as this year goes? I just feel that it would discourage the team and I don't know who else would fill in the HC position. Any opinions on this?

If Chip Kelly would have gotten fired two weeks sooner, he would be LSUs head coach right now. The problem is, who do we get to replace Miles. There really isn't anyone out there. Les isn't the reason we recruit great players. We recruit great players because of our assistant coaches. Guys want to be trained by our assistants. That's why they go on to have long careers in the league. Les is the reason why they don't win titles at the college level. Every year it's the same old thing. Most talented team with a head coach who finds a way to lose...

I like Houston's HC. How do you get him? You gotta have him in the bag before you give Les the can. And you gotta make sure the assistant coaches are on board because guys like coach O are the reason LSU gets such great talent every year. Alot of pieces have to fall into place.

Marcus Spears played for LSU as well as the NFL. He bleeds purple and Gold. I think he knows what he's talking about.

Marcus Spears is spot on with his analysis. He love LSU and only wants what is best for the program. Should have been done last year but definitely needs to be done if we start off 2-3 which I unfortunately believe will be our record after losses to Auburn and Florida.
