Many Sports websites have released their way-too-early rankings for the 2020 season and most have LSU floating around No. 4.

Here's what ESPN, CBS Sports, Bleacher Report and Sporting News had to say about the Tigers in 2020.
quote:

ESPN:
Ranking: No. 4

Mark Schlabach: The Tigers' dream season ended with a national championship, and they might be right back in the CFP mix next season. Burrow, the most prolific passer in SEC history, is leaving after breaking nearly every school record. Next season, LSU plays Texas at home in a big non-conference matchup, hosts Alabama and goes to Florida, Auburn and Texas A&M during SEC play.

Bleacher Report:
Ranking: No. 4

Brad Shepard: Maybe it's a bit of a wild card to put LSU in this final four since it must replace Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow. You can't just replace a player who had perhaps the greatest single season for a quarterback in college history. The nation's top young defender will be back in Derek Stingley Jr., teaming with 5-star incoming cornerback Elias Ricks. Biletnikoff Award-winning receiver Ja'Marr Chase, dynamic pass-catcher Terrace Marshall Jr. are back too.

CBSSports.com:
Ranking: No. 4

Dennis Dodd: The Tigers lose 20 seniors from 2019's forever team. That includes Joe Burrow. However, Ed Orgeron is recruiting a high level after a second straight top-five class. Biletnikoff Award winner Ja'Marr Chase returns. But it's fair to say the offense will take a hit because 2019 was record-setting. Get used to LSU in the top 10, though, as the Myles Brennan era begins.

Sporting News:
Ranking: No. 4

Bill Bender: What will LSU and Ed Orgeron do for an encore without Joe Burrow and Joe Brady? Myles Brennan will finally get his shot at quarterback, and Ja'Marr Chase and Terrace Marshall Jr. are back for another season. The Tigers lose a ton to the NFL Draft (seven draft-eligible juniors, including running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire), but LSU's defense returns enough pieces to build around sophomore cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and another loaded recruiting class…Texas and Alabama visit Tiger Stadium, but there are road trips to Florida, Auburn and Texas A&M.

If you follow Clemson logic, we should remain #1 until we lose.

Good point. I wonder if Dabo will lobby for LSU to be preseason #1? LOL!

This is so true lol. Imagine Ed saying we won the title, we’ve won 16 in a row, but everyone says our conference sucks s we gotta win 31 in a row for people to respect us.... oh wait Ed’s not a twat

The most underrated item is Bo Pelini. I respect the hell out of DA, but I am stoked at the idea of Bo taking this talent pool to dark levels of evil.

4 is fair considering how good Clemson, Georgia and Alabama are expected to be.

*Correction* Take out Alabama and insert Ohio State. That is your preseason top 4.

Bleacher Report ranking is old. It assumes that Brady will be back. These rankings are worth anyone's time.
