Now that Maryland has officially fired DJ Durkin, College Football experts have begun to starting compiling candidates to take over the job full-time.

One of those candidates could be former LSU head coach Les Miles, according to CBS:
quote:

Les Miles, actor: Les is sitting at home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, doing beer commercials and acting in movies. You might have also heard he won a national championship at LSU. Miles will be 65 next month, but Maryland is looking for a bridge coach they could do worse. Miles is an accomplished championship coach, can continue Maryland's strong recruiting, has no NCAA issues and eats grass. That alone would bring unprecedented attention to a mediocre program.

Hope he gets the job and takes his "yankee ass" back up North! He was one of the luckiest coaches in football to have the record he had while coaching the way he did. His last few years drug LSU down and we're still recovering.

No one will touch that fool with a ten-foot pole.

Once he tells them his secret playbook of 3 runs up the middle, the interview will be over.

What about the option to the short side of the field?

Chance that Canada gets the job?

One thing would be for certain, they won't be having the same problems they are having now... But there would be a twist of irony if he gets it and Canada was the OC.

Les would be great there, but Les would be an idiot to actually try in the interview. Get the interview, go in and make fart noises with your mouth and continue to tell LSU you’re continuing to seek coaching jobs and just keep collecting the buyout money.

It ended it badly for him here but he should have been hired by someone by now. Great recruiter and the man is pure class. Can't stand all these thin skinned coaches who berate the press when they don't hear what they want. Les Miles has thick skin and treats others respect and dignity. He sets a good example for his players. Maryland would be lucky to have him.

sure, great recruiter in the middle of a recruiting hotbed. But Maryland ain't that.

Miles has no interest in coaching again. Sit back and collect money from LSU and still stay in the public eye by making commercials and bets with the Ole Ball Coach. It seems like Miles is lovin the stress free life.

This is totally correct. I really hope that they go ahead and make him "university ambassador" soon. Pay him $100,000 per year and let him get more years in the state retirement system. He's a class guy.

LSU is already paying him a buttload to do nothing, and he pushes the Tigers when he has chance to. Why would they pay him $100,000 more?

Wrong, he just said a few months ago he wasn't finished coaching.

Would be a good look for the university after everything that has happened.
