During his press conference on Monday, head coach Brian Kelly was asked about the consistent traits that LSU's defense has exhibited this season, compared to previous years.

Overall, Kelly said he's confident in the secondary and likes how the front seven is synced up together.

"It starts at the back end of the defense," Kelly said. "Coverage ability and tackling, that stands out right away. The ability to cover down contested throws and tackling in the backend of the defense. Those things really start to show themselves."

"And I think the front seven plays well together. It's well-synced. Harold Perkins had that big sack early on. Jack Pyburn is headed up the field, pulls the tackle, and we wrap him underneath. They are just working well together."

"Having a second year in this scheme, and everyone feeling comfortable with Blake Baker's scheme up front. And the coverage and tackling ability on the back end are two things I would highlight."

This year’s defense isn’t afraid to “stick” someone rather than arm tackling.

Kyle Williams is a welcome addition as well.

Too many to list, but Haulcy and Cooley have been superb at S. They have vastly improved that position group and are making other members of the DEF better. It truly has been a 'entire unit' approach the way the DEF is playing upfield, tackling well, covering well, and yes doing it all with a swagger.
Keep it GEAUXING TIGERS!
