LSU head coach Lane Kiffin spoke with reporters on Tuesday after practice and said that Sam Leavitt is done for spring practice.

Leavitt, who is LSU's projected starter for the upcoming season, had a scheduled procedure this week to remove screws from his foot following his Lisfranc surgery last year.

Kiffin said that Leavitt's recovery is on the right timeline, but now that he is on crutches, he will be done for spring.

Hey, resting a QB recovering from an injury. What a concept.

There are plenty of loose screws on The Rant.

I hope he’s good to go but if his recovery is delayed I feel more than confident in our staff and Landen Clark the kid from Elon

Normal process for a Lisfranc surgery. Getting screws out allows for greater mobility. Crutches and non-weightbearing is strictly a precaution. Nothing more.

Going to have to get into some real good work in the summer with the WRs. They need to treat this like the end of the road for their careers.

Why not wait a couple weeks to remove screws? Thats not an urgent thing. Seems suspect.

You don't know what you're talking about. You can't rehab without screws in your feet until you don't have screws in your feet. Why wait to take screws out of your feet? You want him at 100% as fast as possible..... Why on Earth would you delay that?

Faster you remove the screws, the faster full recovery allows him back full contact
